Concerned Citizens for Big River Rhode Island Citizen-led community group dedicated to the stewardship and future of the Big River Management Area in West Greenwich and Coventry, Rhode Island.

Concerned Citizens for Big River (CCBR) is an informal group of citizens working together and with other organizations to raise awareness, to protect, and to advocate for the Big River Management Area in West Greenwich and Coventry, RI. Originally condemned and taken by eminent domain in the 1960s for a reservoir that was never built, the 8,310 acres are now preserved open space for public water s

upply and public recreation. CCBR's current priorities include: 1) Advocate for Big River's owners - the citizens of Rhode Island - to have planning input and access to the land; 2) Act as stewards of the land; 3) Document and preserve the history of Big River, including the original owners' legacy; and 4) Work to ensure effective transparent policies and management practices by the State of Rhode Island.
