Wicked Cryptids Welcome to Professor B's Wicked Cryptids! These mystery animals are sometimes referred to as "cryptids," a term coined by Canadian cryptozoologist John E.

This page was created by Bill Visconti (aka "Professor B) as a platform for sharing cool and interesting perspectives on animals that are not recognized by science, yet have captured our imaginations and invaded pop culture. Wall in 1983 in a letter he sent to the now-defunct International Society of Cryptozoology. Wall introduced "cryptid" as an alternative to monster, beast, and other sensationa

l terms. "Wicked" is often used to describe something evil, vicious, or vile. While some cryptids may fit this description, like the bloodthirsty Chupacabra, the "wicked" in Wicked Cryptids refers to their awesome appeal and the mystifying phenomenon surrounding them. Professor B has created a line of "Wicked Cryptids" characters relating to the world's most popular cryptids, which he discusses in his forthcoming book of the same title. Crazy that an oar fish washed up on a beach in NJ! Wish I were there to see it! These deep-sea creatures can grow to 30+ feet, so people likely have misidentified them as sea serpents. 🤠

The “ Doomsday Fish” otherwise known as the Oar fish just washed up on the beach. These are a rare deep-sea creature that can grow over 30 feet long, often linked in folklore to impending natural disasters. They live deep in the ocean but may surface when sick, injured, or following seismic disturbances, leading to their reputation as omens of doom.
