Coburn Summit Riders

Coburn Summit Riders The Coburn Summit Riders Snowmobile Club is located in the heart of the most scenic snowmobiling in Maine.

Due to the elevation of the mountains, we get snow first and lose it last. Often times the riding season starts in December and last well into April

Looking like another great weekend ahead.

Coburn Summit Riders Trail report 2/18/26
For the second half of vacation week conditions are still looking very good. We had issues with our groomers over the past weekend but we were able to get out Monday night and get things back in good shape. The Powerline line section is still not getting groomed and won’t until we get a decent storm. It’s just too hard on the equipment with so many big rocks on the surface. Cold is coming back for the weekend so it should be another good one ahead. Please STAY OFF PLOWED ROADS.
Ride right, ride safe

Sent to me this afternoon:

Hey, I found a backpack with a wallet and phone on 87N about 1 mile north of the turnoff for 15 mile stream. The owner was Josh P from Winslow ME. I left the backpack at Berry's

While grooming tonight 3 sleds came by me. I stopped them and asked them to take it easy on the trail, as I often do, so that it had time to set up after grooming. Most guys give you a thumbs as they take off racing around the corner behind you. The rider tonight told me he was a groomer operator and they had been going easy on the freshly groomed trail. The picture is the track that was left by three sleds. It was like that for miles. Thank you gentlemen for being so respectful. The riders tomorrow will appreciate it!

Coburn Summit Riders Trail Report 2/5/26
Heading into the heart of the season and conditions are excellent. The cold weather remains and most everything has good coverage to make for great grooming. Everything on our system is groomed EXCEPT for the Powerline and the woods sections on either end. We won’t do those until we get more snow.
The Summit Trail was groomed today and will be a great ride to the top this weekend.
Overall, conditions in the entire area are very good to excellent. Get out and enjoy!

Coburn Summit Riders Trail Report 1/29/26
We received 5-7” of snow from the last storm and was just what we needed to make things perfect.
I groomed yesterday and I would say that our entire trail system with the exception of the Powerline is a 10 out of 10.
ITS 87, 89, Coburn Connector, and Lake Parlin Connector were groomed as well as opening up the summit trail again. With the wind in the forecast, it might not be good for too long. I did not groom the Powerline or the woods sections on either end of it. We’ll do that after the next storm. It’s just too painful to drag our big Dube groomer over it.
The section of ITS 87 from Lone Jack to ITS 88 is still closed. I’m waiting to hear back from the landowner as to when we might be able to open it. We’ll let you know as know as soon as we know.
Overall conditions are EXCELLENT!

Coburn Summit Riders Trail Report 1/16/26
We’ve finally been able to get out and do some grooming. We panned last week and I went again yesterday to flatten things out before the freeze up. All in all conditions are very good with coverage (very thin in spots) everywhere. I also opened up the summit trail but the wind last night and today most likely drifted it in again. The biggest issue we have now is the closure of ITS 87 north of the Lone Jack intersection. There is logging going on just south of Rt 6/15 and the road is plowed. DO NOT RIDE THE PLOWED ROAD! If you want to access the trail to Rockwood you will have to go north on ITS 89 and cross at Long Pond to 88. Hopefully this will only be for a couple more weeks. Ride right , Ride Safe

Dave was a pillar of the community and a leader in everything powersports for the entire area. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with the Jones family through this difficult time.

We lost a great one. The area won’t be the same without you Gordon.

Our little community took a big hit yesterday. We lost our guy. Thank you all so much for the love and support. I will make a more appropriate post later. The store will never be the same without Dad behind the counter.

Trails are in good shape and being groomed tonight. There’s ice where it’s wind blown and a lot of drifting but all in all conditions are very good. The 3-4” of snow last night helped alot. The mountain trail is drifted badly again. We can’t do anything with it until the wind dies down.

Coburn Summit Riders Trail Report 2/27/25

We had a few warm days but the trails seem to have taken it well. The entire system was groomed Tuesday and ITS 87 was done again last night. Overall riding is very good to excellent with some very thin areas as well as bare dirt where it’s exposed to the wind. The Powerline section is rough as usual because of the lack of snow there. We have to raise the drag going through that section so we don’t tear it up on rocks so riders will just have to deal with that section. The mountain was groomed today and will be closed until this afternoon to allow it to set up. It’s currently snowing so there’s no visibility at the top so no one’s missing out. It will be in perfect condition for tomorrow.
We will be out again tomorrow night getting trails ready for the weekend. Ive posted about ITS 89 before but theres still some confusion as to whats closed. The only section that is not open is from Jackman to Parlin. From Parlin south it is open as usual. In order to get to Jackman from the Parlin/Forks area you have to take ITS 87 to ITS 88 to Jackman. Coming from Eustis/Rangeley is thd same as its always been until you get to the intersection if ITS 89 and the Lake Parlin Connector. All trails are open around Coburn Mtn
Enjoy the ride!
