What does one-to-one support make possible?

At Haley’s Hope, trained Literacy Coaches use the Barton Reading and Spelling System, a direct, explicit, structured, sequential, and multisensory Orton-Gillingham-based approach.

In each session, the coach can notice hesitation, adjust the pace, revisit a pattern, and respond to the learner’s needs in real time.

Many adults grew up believing they simply were not good at reading, writing, or spelling. Some never had a name for what they were experiencing.

Understanding dyslexia later in life can bring relief, self-awareness, and new ways to approach work and communication. Support is not only for school-age learners.

It is never too late to better understand how you learn.

Early, accurate identification can bring clarity to questions families may have carried for months or years. It helps a child feel understood and gives parents a clearer place to begin.

Homework should not become a nightly battle. Try replacing “How much did you finish?” with “What felt easier today?”

That question shifts attention from completion to experience. It gives a child space to recognize progress and share where support is still needed.

Listening, encouraging effort, and protecting confidence are powerful ways parents can help. 🧡
