On May 12th, Our camp placed a marker at the grave site of William, WT Jones. Jones was a Lieutenant in the NC 35th Company C, identified as one of the Immortal 600, A Scotch Rifleman, also a black man. His Father was Ambrose Jones and his mother was identified as slave on a plantation. This project had been in the works for years, Thanks to all the men and women that made this possible.
We are proud of the diversity that William T Jones brings to our Confederate Heritage and example he set forth in the community in which he lived in the years following the War. WT Jones "Carthage's Best Kept Secret" certainly was one it's finest citizens. (Thanks to Heather Jackson, Belle Blue OCR Chapter 56 for photos)
