What a year it has been for the DCS PTA! 💙 Thanks to the incredible support of our DCS families and community, we’ve been able to fund nearly $20,000 in field trips, enrichment opportunities, staff and student wellness initiatives, special projects, events, and more this school year!

We were especially blown away by the generosity shown during Teacher Appreciation Week — with over $650 donated, plus countless food, drink, flower, treat, and gift card donations. Thank you for helping us celebrate our amazing DCS staff! 🍎✨

But we have one more big event left this year — our 4th Annual Jogathon on Friday, May 22! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Students will walk, jog, or run with their buddy classes during school hours while collecting pledges from friends, family, and neighbors to help support future PTA programs and activities.

If every DCS student raises just $20, we’ll hit our fundraising goal! Every donation — big or small — makes a difference.

What an incredible week celebrating the amazing teachers and staff at Durham Community School! 💙🍎✨

Teacher Appreciation Week 2026 was filled with kindness, generosity, and so much community support. Throughout the week, donations of baked goods, granola bars, chips, crackers, drinks, Paypal donations, gift cards, and scratch tickets helped us spoil the incredible educators and staff who make DCS such a special place every day.

We kicked off the week with delicious bagels and cream cheese from Forage Market and surprised staff with freshly blended fruit smoothies. Tuesday, students were able to give flowers to teachers and staff members who mean so much to them thanks to donations from Beautiful Mess Farm, Shaw's, and our wonderful Durham community. Wednesday featured a delicious taco bar provided by the PTA, Thursday brought fresh popped popcorn, and we wrapped up the week on Friday with pizza from Get & Go and lots of delicious salad.

To everyone who donated money, food, drinks, flowers, gift cards, raffle items, time, and energy — thank you for helping us show our appreciation in such a meaningful way. The DCS PTA and Durham community truly showed up for our educators this week.

To all DCS teachers and staff: thank you for your patience, compassion, hard work, and dedication to our students every single day. You are what makes DCS so special, and we are incredibly grateful for each and every one of you. 💙

Teacher Appreciation Week starts TOMORROW and we have lots of fun things cooked up for our teachers and staff (like, why did we buy 75 bananas?). But we are still looking for more items to be donated - we are looking for scratch tickets, baked goods throughout the week, drinks, and garden salads for our lunch on Friday. Using Hannaford To Go? You can still participate in our Hannaford Helps Schools Fundraiser!

Instead of a printout, when you use Hannaford To Go, Hannaford will email you a code (in May/June) based on your purchases. Just follow the same steps to redeem your School Dollars for DCS.
