On a public works project, travel time is considered “hours worked” on the project, meaning they are payable at nothing less than the prevailing wage rates based on the worker’s classification. For example, if your employee starts their shift at the company office and then travels to a public works project, the travel time to the public works project is required to be paid at the same prevailing wage rate the worker is classified on the project.
