Sabers-Saberettes Youth Basketball Organization Sabers-Saberettes is a coed youth basketball organization for children of all ages.

The Sabers/Saberettes Youth Basketball Organization was established in 1970 at the East San Gabriel Valley Japanese Community Center by Don Mita and Bob Yamash*ta with only a handful of boys and girls teams. It was formed to provide Japanese American youth the opportunity to play organized basketball during a time when they couldn’t compete in other organized basketball programs. Forty years later

, with basketball becoming a passion for many Japanese American youth, the Sabers Organization has over 20 teams and 100 boys and girls of all ages learning basketball skills and developing lifelong skills such as teamwork, dedication, and commitment.
