AMTA South Carolina Chapter We represent the South Carolina Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association. We are a member-motivated organization of ethical professionals.

Our mission is to serve our chapter members while advancing the profession & educating the community on the benefits of massage therapy. The American Massage Therapy Association® (AMTA) is a non-profit, member driven organization that represents more than 55,000 massage therapists in 27 countries. The South Carolina Chapter of the AMTA currently has approximately 700 members, and we are always gro

wing. As a chapter we offer at least two (2) continuing education opportunities each year, a newsletter four (4) times a year, and reliable communication with our chapter board. The mission of AMTA-SC chapter is to serve American Massage Therapy Association-South Carolina Chapter members while advancing the profession and educating the community on the benefits of massage therapy. Chapter Meritorious: Sarah Schaeffer

We are proud to celebrate Sarah Schaeffer, owner of The Body Works LLC!, as the recipient of the 2026 Meritorious Award from the American Massage Therapy Association – South Carolina Chapter. With over 25 years as a Licensed Massage Therapist and more than a decade of dedicated volunteer service to the AMTA-SC chapter in multiple leadership roles, Sarah has made a lasting impact on both the profession and her community.

As the founder of The Body Works LLC!, she has spent 20 years building a trusted body care practice in the P*e Dee region while also championing collaboration, education, and client-centered care. Her commitment extends far beyond the treatment room—from supporting research in pain management to serving on many community boards like the P*e Dee Coalition and leading community initiatives that have raised thousands for important causes.
