🐾🏡 Are you a pet owner in need of assistance, maybe going through hard times and having trouble providing food for your furry family members? Come visit LCR Saturday, September 12th from 10am - 11am (or as supplies last).
We will have limited pet food available for free to help struggling pet owners in our community including dogs, cats, and small critter food available.
We do ask that pet owners complete an informational survey to help us to grow our services for our community and help keep pets in their homes for future events!

With the kids returning to school and family schedules changing it also changes for our pets. Some pets cheerfully nap until everyone gets home but others become stressed. Did you know you can freeze stuffed Kongs? This greatly extends the fun and provides a much needed outlet for a stressed out dog. Stuff several Kongs, put them in the freezer, and leave one for your pet in the morning.

There are many "free" adoption events scheduled this weekend. Please don't make an impulse adoption. Make sure this is something you've been thinking about and have planned for. Don't give a pet as a gift to an unsuspecting person unless you are taking full responsibility for it. Sadly, many groups and shelters are no longer screening adopters or doing home checks to make sure the potential pet will be a good fit. This greatly increases adoption failures and adds significant stress to families who were unprepared. Just because the adoption fee is waived doesn't mean you won't be faced with expensive vet bills in the near future as well as supplies and possibly trainers. Ask yourself if you and your bank account are really ready before adopting.

We are aware of many shelters offering free adoptions right now. Part of the reason for this is the dire situation in our region. Shelters are bursting at the seams due to so many strays, abandoned dogs, and generally irresponsible adoptions and purchases, which never turns out well for the poor dog. Please don't forget that these dogs have already been through so much. Many will require significant decompression time. That's often not an issue if you're prepared to stay the course. Returning the dog AGAIN would be devastating. Please make sure you're up for the long haul and willing to do whatever it takes. Don't forget, kids return to school soon, and life will be chaotic. That will be yet another transition for your new furry friend. If you're not prepared for what comes with that (vet bills, trainer bills, additional anxiety supplies, etc) please wait until you're in a better place in your life. Please don't fail these dogs again.

We are proud to introduce GoodBoy Dog Recovery as our next ASR Star! This tireless group volunteers hours of their time daily to track and safely capture pets that have escaped from their owners or that have been abandoned. Pet abandonment is a huge problem in our local area made worse by communities that have eliminated any funding for animal control or shelter services for pets who have lost their way. The team at GoodBoy has stepped in and, this year alone, has safely captured and found refuge for 86 dogs. Many times, they have slept in their vehicles, patiently waiting for a dog to step into a custom-crafted trap, then headed out to their full-time jobs the next morning. REMINDERS:

Our team will arrive for set-up at 10AM and the clinic will begin promptly at 11AM. For the safety of your pets, please stay in your car until line-up for registered guests begins at 10:30AM. You must arrive no later than 1:30PM, to ensure our team has time to see your pet!
