With the end of summer break arriving, last weekend we had a Court of Honor. It's always a great time celebrating the achievements and awards our scouts have achieved over the summer.
On top of that, we'd like to give a little recap of what our scouts did this summer. We kicked off the summer by going to the annual memorial day parade! Our first campout of the summer was at Whitaker Farm. The scouts had a ton of fun on this massive property, hiking and exploring. As many may know, we attended summer camp at Owasippe and earned tons of merit badges and did some really cool activities. Towards the end of the summer, we had a fantastic joint campout with packs 941 and 940, and earned the Liberty in Action award. And we can’t forget our first ever Summer Lock-in! We did planning for the second half of the year and a little bit into next year.
It'd be a shame to mention to skip over what some smaller groups of our scouts did. For starters, we sent a small crew of older scouts out to Sea Base towards the beginning of the summer. They had tons of fun sailing and snorkeling in the Gulf and a tiny bit in the Atlantic Ocean! Also, we had 2 scouts attend NYLT this summer, one of them was even staffing it! Speaking of staffing, we had a scout work his second summer at Cub World. Additionally, the Purple Hawk patrol went on a bike ride! Furthermore, we had our troop's newest Eagle Scout and our troop’s newest Order of the Arrow member.
There were also a couple changes to the troop over this summer. Firstly, we became a family troop! This now means we can have all scouts, no matter their gender! This unlocks a ton of potential for new adventure and friendship. Additionally, we now have a troop Instagram account. Here, we will post some less formal content about our scouts and what life in scouting is like for them. The Instagram account is linked on our page and has the same handle and profile picture as this account.
