Today, we celebrate an incredible milestone and a remarkable career. 💙

After 42 years of dedicated service, Sharon Owens is retiring from Family Service of Chester County.

Throughout more than four decades, Sharon has made a lasting impact on our organization, her colleagues, and the countless individuals and families we have had the privilege of serving.

We are deeply grateful for Sharon’s commitment, professionalism, and compassion. Her legacy will remain an important part of Family Service for years to come.

79 years ago today, on August 11, 1947, the Court of Common Pleas of Chester County approved the incorporation of Family Service of Chester County.

The original articles of incorporation described a mission centered on providing service, guidance, and counsel to families and individuals, sharing information about issues affecting families and communities, and advancing efforts that promote the well-being of individuals and families.

Nearly eight decades later, that purpose still feels remarkably familiar.

Our programs and the needs of our community have evolved over the years, but the foundation has remained the same: helping people navigate challenges, strengthening families, and building a healthier Chester County.

As we celebrate 79 years of service today, we’re also looking ahead. This year begins the journey toward our 80th anniversary in 2027—an opportunity to honor the people who built Family Service, celebrate the thousands of lives touched along the way, and continue building what comes next.

Here’s to 79 years of service—and the next chapter.

Chrissy Houlahan's Healthcare Affordability Roundtable, joining healthcare providers, community organizations, and leaders to discuss the challenges families face in accessing affordable care.
