Sunrise Rotarians and friends had a great hike at Laurels Preserve in Coatesville last Thursday, hiking a little over 3 miles. The preserve is 900+ acres of hardwood forest, meadows, and trails (managed by the Brandywine Conservancy), and it includes much of the Doe and Buck runs.

Members of the Sunrise Rotary club enjoyed an evening social at the Everhart Park gazebo. The club is supporting the restoration of this important West Chester landmark.

West Chester East Side won, 3-1 against Wilmington DE Naaman and is advancing to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA - along with 10 American teams and 10 International Teams!

West Chester, let's get behind our hometown team! ⚾ East Side Little League is taking the field in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship, and we're cheering them on every step of the way.

📺 We'll have the game on with sound.
🍻 Cold drinks.
🙌 Plenty of hometown pride.

West Chester East Side Little Leaguers advance. They will play next on Friday afternoon at 3PM. This will be televised on ESPN. If they win this game - they are in the Little League World Series!

Several Sunrise Rotarians took a beautiful hike this past Thursday along Hog’s Hollow Trail, on Paradise Farms in East Bradford: Bill, Robbe, Joyce, Roger L, Roger T, Joe, Michel, and guest Walt Wills.
Great, shadow covered trail, about 2 miles, with gentle up and down path, plus a short side trek down to the edge of the Valley Creek.

Beth Douglass and Danielle Pallet from The Seeing Eye puppy-raising program visited the Greater West Chester Sunrise Rotary's breakfast meeting this morning.

Chester County families participating in the volunteer puppy-raising program foster 7-week-old puppies for about 12 to 16 months, teaching them basic obedience and house manners, and socializing them in public spaces. The Seeing Eye covers all veterinary costs and provides food stipends.

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

This Fourth of July feels especially meaningful as we celebrate our nation's 250th year.

For 250 years, generations of Americans have worked to build, protect, improve, and strengthen the communities we call home. While our history has included both extraordinary achievements and difficult chapters, each generation has had the opportunity—and the responsibility...to help shape what comes next.

That reminds me that patriotism isn't only expressed in celebration. It's also found in service.

It's found in neighbors helping neighbors.
In volunteers giving their time.
In communities coming together.
In choosing to leave things better than we found them.

As we begin the new Rotary year with Tammy Williams as President of The Greater West Chester Sunrise Rotary Club, we as a club couldn't imagine a more fitting reminder of her theme:

💙 Service Above Self in action.

This week, members of The Greater West Chester Sunrise Rotary Club and guests were honored to welcome Christine Zaccarelli, Chief Executive Officer of The Crime Victims' Center of Chester County, Inc., who shared the incredible work her organization has been doing for more than 50 years to support victims of crime and educate our community.

One image she stated from her presentation stayed with us.

"Imagine people falling into a river. Some people help pull them to safety and provide support and healing. Others walk upstream to discover why people are falling in...and work to repair the bridge.
That is the power of prevention."

From victim advocacy and counseling to child safety, healthy relationships, and education programs in our schools, the Crime Victim Center's work helps create safer and stronger communities throughout Chester County.

We are grateful to Christine for sharing her time, her insights, and the compassion that guides the work of the Crime Victim Center team every day.

Thank you for being that friendly face in the room for so many who need it most. ❤️
