The Great Marsh Institue recently was able to add on an additional 80 acres! GMI graciously allows our team to train monthly on the property which assists us greatly.

They also team up with us to host the spring 5K Mud Mosey that raises funds for both non-profits.

The Great Marsh is an important ecological treasure that serves many roles in the Chester County ecology. It’s health, directly impacts our health.

Please help support GMI and ChesCo Search Dogs!

To all our supporters in West Chester and Chester County!! We need your help!! Building owners! Real estate agents! See photos for examples of what we are looking for.

We are looking for a commercial, industrial, or municipal bldg that is not typically in use on Sunday mornings that would allow us to work our search dogs inside from 8AM to approx 1PM. Possibly 2-3 times a year. But we’d be happy for once a year!!

We are fully insured and will provide that info to the owners or agents. All team members and participants sign full liability releases holding owners harmless.

Our dogs are fully house broken and we would be absolutely shocked and horrified if there would be any ‘accidents’!!!!

Should anything happen, we would take full responsibility and pay any damages or repairs. We are VERY, VERY low impact on any facility! We hide people or scent containers and the dogs search them out!

Please, help us find a location. Maybe for this upcoming Sunday?? Please message us or contact us on our web site.

In kind tax deduction for rental value may be available.

Can this training be an email?

Absolutely not 🚫

No matter how comfy our beds are on a dreary Sunday morning, we follow Dolly's morning routine and chase that grind. Often, our commutes to training are anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. Sometimes, the alarm is set earlier than on our work days!

Our team has a variety of occupations, hours, and levels of dedication. We have part-time, full-time, retirees, business owners, parents and caregivers. "9-5s" look different for everyone on the team. This means that a response to a call is pretty good! Also, energy output during work varies. In order to prevent injury and burnout, we don't expect a handler coming out of a +12 hr shift to respond to a call. We take respite pretty seriously here. We can imagine Dolly does the same.

We hope your Monday starts with a great stretch, a good cup of coffee, but also...

Also, did we just soft launch a new puppy on the team? 👀

Stay tuned!

Fitness Friday is for finishing the week off strong 💪
During downtime, our team participates in a variety of physical activities to condition for search and rescue response efforts. Physical conditioning helps us navigate safely over uneven terrain in a range of weather conditions with operational efficiency and mental alertness. Injury prevention for all involved is our number one priority!

From hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, running, strength training to keeping up with the family at home, we experience it all!

How are you finishing the work week strong?

Scroll through to see:

Handler Chuck demonstrating strength in every grip.

Handler Sang finishing one of the million races he has completed in his lifetime.

Handler Keith enjoying a scenic hiking trail.

Handler Andy’s hiking selfie with no filter needed.

Future Handler Cory targeting that core, leg strength, and endurance on horseback.

Last night, we were requested to assist Northeast Search and Rescue, who had been activated by the Pennsylvania State Police, for a missing gentleman in Milford, PA. The request was for our air scent and trailing canines to start at 0800 today. Three of our team members, Andy and Craig with canine Mica, made the 2.5 hr drive to aid in the search. Just as the team was ready to start in their task area, the gentleman was found alive by others assisting in the search.

A successful outcome is always welcome! Great job on all who responded and worked together to have such an outcome.

Also, did Mica go on a side quest? She sure did! Even though they didn’t get a chance to search, Mica still gets a chance to run. So a hike to Raymondskill Falls, the tallest falls in PA at 150’ was in order!

Pictures are operation setup and Mica's adventure ❤️

Three cheers for our subject volunteers!

We want to take a minute to extend our gratitude to all the subject volunteers who show up and show out for our team. They take the time out of their day and early mornings to make our trainings more diverse, easier, and efficient. Subject volunteers are tasked with hiding for our air-scent and tracking canines and handlers in all different types of settings.

Every subject volunteer gave their experience a 10 out of 10! One subject said, "Who doesn't want to hide and be searched out by multiple dogs throughout the morning?"

If this is piquing your interest, please reach out to us by sending a message. We would love to work with you!

Physical abilities are taken into consideration and can be discussed further, so please don't feel like you would not be a good fit. Also, if you can only volunteer for us once or twice, that is ok too!

We can't thank you all enough!

During training, the dogs took a moment to cool off by using a technique called, muzzle dunking. This allows the blood flowing through the nasal passage and head to cool off before continuing on to the rest of the body. A quick stop at the kiddie pool allows for a cooler and safer training day 😎

Want to try it out? With a treat or toy in hand, guide the dog's muzzle to just below surface level. Soon enough you will be able to place the treat at the bottom to encourage more submersion.
