New research involving scientists from Stroud Water Research Center found microplastics in aquatic insects collected from streams throughout the Schuylkill River watershed, including in both urban and forested areas.
As Stroud senior research scientist and study co-author John Jackson explains, โItโs a really good illustration, or a reminder, that everything we do in a watershed, whether itโs on the land or in our wastewater, whatever weโre releasing into the environment, it often just ends up in our water.โ
Itโs an important reminder of how closely connected our land and waterways are, and why thoughtful stewardship of both matters. ๐ฟ
