With the election approaching, political ads increasing, and campus demonstrations occurring we know these can be stressful times. Below are some tips for managing the stress of this political season.
* Set Boundaries
* It’s okay not to engage in every piece of information about the election. Take breaks, set limits, and intentionally engage in non political activities.
* Practice Self-Care
* Increase your daily activities that fill your cup.
* Don’t forget. Self-Care is MENTAL, EMOTIONAL, and PHYSICAL wellness. Engage in activities that take care you your whole being.
* Engage with Social Media Strategically
* Every major social media platform uses an algorithm to send you content they think you’ll engage with.
* We can hack the algorithm
* Don’t want to see political content? Search, watch, and like content that bring you joy (puppies, kittens, puppies with kittens are all great options 😊)
* It’s Okay to Unplug
* This one is easier said than done, but TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and YikYak aren’t going anywhere. A couple hours, days, or weeks away could be the refresh you need.
