Pronouns can be tricky! Maybe it’s your first time using they/them to refer to a single person, or maybe a loved one is transitioning and wants to use a pronoun that affirms their gender identity—but is new to you. Whatever the case may be, there are lots of ways to learn, honor, and use someone’s pronouns. Here are a few to get your started:

• Try a role play with someone (who is NOT your LGBTQ+ loved one) to help you understand what it feels like to be misgendered.
• Write a story about your loved one using their affirmed name and pronouns.
• Make a gender jar and put $1.00 in the jar every time you make a mistake.

SEPTEMBER 22 | BOOK CLUB

PFLAG West Chester/Chester County’s Book Club will be covering Lavender House by Lev AC Rosen! A delicious story from a new voice in suspense, Lev AC Rosen's Lavender House is Knives Out with a q***r historical twist.

Lev AC Rosen writes books for people of all ages, including the Evander Mills series, which began with the Macavity Award-winning Lavender House and continues with The Bell in the Fog and Rough Pages. His most recent young adult novels are Emmett, Lion’s Legacy, and Camp. Rosen’s books have been nominated for Anthony and Lambda Awards and have been selected for best-of lists from the Today show, Amazon, Library Journal, Buzzfeed, Autostraddle, Forbes, and many others. He lives in NYC with his husband and a very small cat.

It’s an honor and privilege to have our incoming PFLAG National Board Member, Keturah Johnson, speak at today’s March on Washington: Defend the Vote, an event commemorating the 63rd anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington, where a quarter million Americans once stood for equality and freedom. Today, we carry that work into a new generation.

Right now, more than 600 bills and ballot measures across this country trade on fears about transgender people, but their impacts extend far beyond the greater LGBTQ+ community: they threaten access to education, healthcare, safety, employment, housing, transportation, and financial resources for rural communities, women, people of color, people with disabilities, immigrants, and families of all kinds.

Beloved by q***r communities for decades—most memorably for his role as Frank-n-Furter, the sweet transvestite, from Tr*******al, Transylvania! in The Rocky Horror Picture Show—Tim Curry has been a light in the darkness of everybody's life.

The recipient of an Emmy Award, and nominated for Tony Awards, Olivier Awards, a Grammy, and more, Tim Curry had a prolific career that spanned Broadway, the West End, small-screen and big-screen roles, and albums that had us all “...do the rock.”

Rest in peace, Tim Curry.
