Between all the games and summer fun, there was time to make challah and welcome Shabbat together.

TiKVA's girls and boys enjoyed a shortened summer camp program, which was specifically funded by various foundations.

With more than 20 counselors from the U.S. and Israel, TiKVA's children spent time in a sleep away camp just an hour from Bucharest, enjoying sports, fun and games, and rejuvenating before the upcoming school year.

This fall, we’re bringing a little magic to New York City.

On November 3, friends of TiKVA will come together at STORIED NYC for The Magic of Hope—an evening of celebration, connection, beautiful food, and the stories of Jewish children whose lives continue to transform in extraordinary ways.

We are proud to honor Effy Zinkin and Pamela Pekerman, whose leadership, generosity, and commitment to Jewish children reflect the very spirit of this evening.

We’ll celebrate how far our children have come, share a glimpse of where they are headed, and raise the support that keeps their education, care, and Jewish futures moving forward across Ukraine, Romania, and Israel.

We have friends traveling in from across the country, and we would love to see you there.

As another week comes to a close, we wish our entire TiKVA family a Shabbat filled with warmth, peace, and the joy of being together.

For most children, an ordinary day is something they take for granted.

Wake up. Eat breakfast. Go to school. Play with friends. Do homework. Eat dinner. Get ready for bed.

But for children who have experienced instability, displacement or war, ordinary means so much more.

At TiKVA, the daily routines of childhood create a sense of safety and belonging. There are teachers who expect you in class, friends waiting to play, caregivers who know when something is wrong, meals you can count on and a bed that is yours at the end of the day.

An ordinary day is an extraordinary gift.

וְיָשֵׂם לְךָ שָׁלוֹם
“And grant you peace.”

These words, from the traditional blessing of children on Shabbat, carry a wish that feels especially meaningful for the children of TiKVA.

Each Friday night, as families around the world welcome Shabbat, we ask for our children to be blessed and protected, and to know peace.

For the children in TiKVA’s care, that blessing takes on profound meaning. May they grow surrounded by safety and love. May they find strength in their traditions and joy in their community. And may they know the peace everyone deserves.

Rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson helped support TiKVA, providing resources for the food, clothing, education, and daily care that our children needed.

Years later, he met Raya.

While filming Dream School: NYC, Raya told 50 Cent that she had grown up at TiKVA and that his generosity helped support the home that cared for her. As she showed him photographs and told him about her childhood, he realized he was sitting face-to-face with someone whose life had been directly impacted by his gift.

Hearing her story and seeing the photos left 50 Cent speechless. The emotional moment reminded him of the life-changing and transformative power of kindness and generosity. We are so deeply grateful.

At TiKVA, this ancient teaching comes to life every day.

When a child finds safety instead of fear, education instead of uncertainty, and love instead of loneliness, the impact reaches far beyond one life. It touches families, communities and the future.
