We have another incredible update to share ahead of Pugnic! Get ready to meet two absolute gentlemen at the big event: Brutus and Otis! 💖

​These two sweet boys came into the rescue at completely different times, but they ended up becoming part of the same wonderful family circle. When Brutus arrived, his foster family fell head-over-heels in love and officially adopted him.

​The love story continued when Otis (formerly known as Everest) came into the rescue. His foster mom’s family fell equally in love with him and brought him home! Now, these two amazing pug alumni get to live out their beautifully spoiled lives filled with endless love, surrounded by families who adore them. 🏡✨

​Brutus and Otis are living the absolute dream, and they can’t wait to celebrate with everyone June 20th! They might even try their luck at some of the fun games we have lined up this year, like our annual Cake Walk game that everyone looks forward to every single Pugnic. 🍰🐾

Remember pug alumni Sugar? Her adoptive family adores her and she is absolutely thriving!

Sugar has officially stepped into the role of class mascot for her mom's school classes, where she loves supervising skills practice and starring in every student group photo. 🎓🐾

When she isn't "at work," she is a total camp girl! She has already enjoyed a few weekend camping vacations, snuggling by the fire, and conquering her fear of golf cart rides—especially since they usually lead to getting her very own ice cream treat. 🍦⛺

She is making incredible strides with her confidence, too. While men used to make her nervous, she is building a wonderful bond with her very patient dad and loves cuddling with her parents.

From getting spoiled at home to being the absolute center of her family's world, Sugar is truly cherished. Her mom shares that Sugar is the sweetest dog ever and her entire world. ❤️

Let’s officially welcome Max to the rescue! ❤️

Max is now an honorary pug. We checked the rule book and, honestly, he’s been through enough that we decided to skip the paperwork.

What we know so far: Max is an approximately 11-year-old English Bulldog mix who appears to have spent the last several years competing in a contest called “How Many Untreated Medical Conditions Can One Dog Have?” Unfortunately, he was winning.

His cherry eye is so severe it has affected his vision. His ears contain enough debris to qualify as a historical excavation site. His dental disease suggests he and a toothbrush have been lifelong strangers. His feet are scarred from years of untreated allergies, his skin and coat are in rough shape, breathing is a struggle, and he is suspected to have Cushing’s disease.

Last night he went to the emergency vet to make sure he was stable, and more testing and treatment are coming soon.

The saddest part isn’t his medical condition—it’s his story.

Someone failed him for years. Then, instead of getting him the help he desperately needed, they left him with another family and never came back. That family listed him on Craigslist… for free.

An old, sick dog who spent his entire life loving humans was reduced to a free classified ad.

Thankfully, one weird rescue lady saw him, scooped him up, probably cried a little, and immediately started making veterinary appointments he never should have needed.

So no, Max, you’re not free anymore.

You’re priceless.

And for however much time you have left, you’ll never have to wonder where you belong again. 🖤🐾

🚨EMERGENCY PLACEMENT NEEDED 🚨

We picked up this sweet boy today, he was listed for free on craigslist. Unfortunately, he is in much worse shape than we anticipated. We need a Foster Home that he could go to, even for a few days, that is calm and quiet. He is currently in Livingston County- if you are close and able to help- please reach out ASAP and we can fill you in! We were told he is good with dogs but we have not tested that- he will need to stay separate from other dogs until he can decompress. Unfortunately we do not know anything about him- but he was in a home with a younger kiddo and did well with them!

While we love the games and food at our Annual Pugnic, the best part is seeing our community come together. On Saturday, June 20th, we’re celebrating all the pugs we’ve helped find forever homes. It’s a chance to swap stories, meet rescue alumni, and win some fantastic finds in our raffles—all while supporting the work we do at Mid Michigan Pug Club and Rescue.

We’re also excited to host local pet vendors! It’s the perfect chance to find something unique for your dog while supporting local pet-focused businesses.
