Big news from the Mobile Music Lab.

Jersey Surf has been awarded a Capital Support grant from the The Presser Foundation -- one of the most respected music philanthropies in the country -- to bring professional digital audio workstations into our mobile classroom trailer.

This $27,500 grant will equip the Mobile Music Lab's new Beatcraft program with a suite of Apple iMac computers running Logic Pro, professional audio interfaces, MIDI keyboard controllers, and studio monitoring headphones. An instructor station with external monitoring capability, an interactive display board, and a custom mobile sound cart round out the setup. Eight student stations. One instructor station. A recording studio that travels.

We'll be bringing music production fundamentals to students in Title I schools, community events, libraries, and beyond -- reaching an estimated 500+ participants a year who might otherwise never sit at a professional recording workstation.

This is also the second Presser Foundation grant Jersey Surf has received this program year, alongside an earlier award through their Advancement of Music program. We're grateful for the trust, and we're ready to put it to work.

We're heading to Washington Township's Super Saturday this weekend -- and we're SHARING THE LOVE of making music with everyone!

Join the Mobile Music Lab team at Washington Lake Park on Saturday, May 9th for a drop-in drum circle you can be part of all day long. No experience needed. No registration. Just show up, grab a drum, and make some noise with us.

Drum Jawn Wildwood 2026 -- RECAP

Sunday was everything we hoped it would be, and then some.

More than 400 students, teachers, parents, and community members took part in Drum Jawn at the TIA Atlantic Coast Championships at the Wildwoods Convention Center. For four hours, the outdoor space around the convention center was alive with music from every direction -- steel pan, Scottish pipe band drumming, world percussion, and a nearly non-stop community drum circle all running simultaneously, all open to anyone who wanted to play.

The MarimbaPad station drew steady crowds of curious students and educators. The "Fastest Drummer" activation had lines all day. And we were honored to welcome Hall of Fame arranger and designer Dennis DeLucia, who joined the drum circle and reminded everyone in the space that the joy of playing together belongs to everyone -- legend and beginner alike.

The feedback was overwhelming. Students and teachers asked when we are coming back. Event officials shared that the turnout exceeded their expectations. And we left Wildwood more energized than ever about what this program can become.

Future Drum Jawn and Rhythm Hang events are coming this spring and summer. Stay tuned for dates, locations, and how to get involved.
