As we prepare to commemorate Memorial Day 2026, especially in the year that we are celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Founding Fathers taking the courageous step of declaring their independence, let us take a moment to reflect on those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to achieve that independence and maintain those liberties and freedoms throughout our country's history.

"Without a witness, they just disappear."

Please take a couple of minutes to remember the 28 West Bend High School students who gave their lives in the service of their country.

Went on an early evening visit to the Lincoln Memorial; Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the Korean War Veterans Memorial. A recent (2022) addition to the Korean War Veterans Memorial is a listing of the names of U.S. and South Korean military personnel who were killed in action in that conflict. I found the 3 West Bend High School men who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
As Memorial Day 2026 approaches, it is fitting and appropriate to take a moment to remember their names:
