As Paramedics, we often respond to emergencies, care for our patients, and transport them to the hospital without ever knowing what happens next. But every so often, we get the opportunity to reconnect with a patient and witness their incredible journey toward recovery.

On September 5th, MED 3’s crew of FF/Paramedic Austin Stelter, FF/Paramedic Mikhail Madaus, and FF/EMT Nick Lopez transported Lauren after she suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Later that month, the crew had the opportunity to reunite with Lauren and see the amazing progress she had made in her recovery.

Moments like these are a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Being able to see the impact of our care and witness a patient’s progress is something truly special.

We’re so happy to see Lauren making progress and wish her continued strength and success in her recovery!

Help prevent falls and stay safe and independent! The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Washington County, Sports Clinic Physical Therapy and the West Bend Fire Department are hosting a FREE Falls Prevention Class for adults age 60 and older.

Learn about fall prevention, balance, home safety and nutrition, and receive a balance assessment. Refreshments will also be provided!
