Disaster in Spain: Teams search for bodies after unprecedented floods claim at least 158 lives

We have received terrible news from our Spanish brothers. We pray that God will help all those who are living through this tragedy in Valencia, Spain, and nearby areas.

The so-called DANA flash floods have so far left 158 dead and dozens missing.

Rescue teams were searching for bodies in stranded vehicles and soaked buildings as people tried to salvage what they could from their ruined homes after the monstrous flash floods in Spain claimed at least 158 lives, with 155 deaths confirmed in the eastern region of Valencia alone.

More horrors emerged from the rubble and the omnipresent layers of mud left by the walls of water that produced the deadliest natural disaster in living memory in Spain. The damage was reminiscent of the aftermath of a tsunami, and survivors were left to pick up the pieces as they mourned their loved ones.

Your purchase will support disaster relief efforts, help provide relief to people and pets affected by Tropical Storm Sara.

Sara previously left heavy rains to Panama and Costa Rica, both of which had recently taken on high rainfall from Rafael earlier in November. The non-stop rains prompted evacuations in Costa Rica and an emergency declaration in Panama. (OCHA, 15 Nov 2024)

Following its influence across north-eastern Central America, the IFRC Disaster Response and Preparedness reports three missing people and 20,000 affected in Honduras, 123,276 affected people in Belize and almost 8,000 affected people in Guatemala.
Your generous contribution will not only support our immediate disaster response fund for victims of Tropical Storm Sara, who are in dire need of help right now, but will also allow us to help those victims longterm.

Your purchase will support disaster relief efforts, help provide relief to people and pets affected by both, Hurricane Helene and Milton. We are finding that most victims that did have hurricane insurance, are finding themselves having to cover deductibles of 2%. In most cases that means anywhere between $5,000 to 12,000, that the victims have to cover out of pocket, before their insurance would cover them. While FEMA has promised to help, and is trying their best (for which we are extremely grateful), they have long waits (even their calls right now are 800 to 900 people in line at a time at any giving moment), so they simply do not have the budget to help everyone. As far as helping with the deductible, they ask that people apply for a 0% interest loan from SBA, however, the SBA has stated that while they are accepting applications at this time for victims of hurricane Helene and Milton, they will not be able to issue any loans at this time because they do not have the budget for it from Congress yet. Therefore, our goal is to use your contributions to help as many victims as we can (those who are in the most affected locations and who have school age children, elderly, or disabled would be prioritized) with their immediate needs and if we can collect enough funds, then help with as much as possible with the high deductibles for those who cannot afford them (since some of the victims are on unemployment due to the hurricane at this time while renovations are underway).
