Your purchase will support disaster relief efforts, help provide relief to people and pets affected by both, Hurricane Helene and Milton. We are finding that most victims that did have hurricane insurance, are finding themselves having to cover deductibles of 2%. In most cases that means anywhere between $5,000 to 12,000, that the victims have to cover out of pocket, before their insurance would cover them. While FEMA has promised to help, and is trying their best (for which we are extremely grateful), they have long waits (even their calls right now are 800 to 900 people in line at a time at any giving moment), so they simply do not have the budget to help everyone. As far as helping with the deductible, they ask that people apply for a 0% interest loan from SBA, however, the SBA has stated that while they are accepting applications at this time for victims of hurricane Helene and Milton, they will not be able to issue any loans at this time because they do not have the budget for it from Congress yet. Therefore, our goal is to use your contributions to help as many victims as we can (those who are in the most affected locations and who have school age children, elderly, or disabled would be prioritized) with their immediate needs and if we can collect enough funds, then help with as much as possible with the high deductibles for those who cannot afford them (since some of the victims are on unemployment due to the hurricane at this time while renovations are underway).
