What an amazing turnout at our October 3rd DCC 1 meeting! 💙

It was an incredible morning filled with valuable information, engaging discussions, and wonderful guests! Thank you to everyone who joined us for such a productive and informative meeting.

A special thank-you to PSJA school board candidates from “Leading with Experience” — Jose “Angel” Flores, Roberto F. Loredo, and Yolanda Castillo — for attending our meeting, sharing their reasons for running, and taking the time to answer questions from our members. We appreciate your willingness to engage with our educators and hear their questions.

💼 We also want to extend a huge thank-you to Sean Romero from Farley Financial for sharing valuable information about TRS, retirement benefits, and other important financial matters. Your willingness to answer questions and provide guidance helps educators make informed decisions for themselves, their families, and their futures!

✨ TCTA DCC 1 Kicked Off the New School Year! ✨

TCTA DCC 1 held our first meeting of the new school year at Junction Café, and it was the perfect way to come together, share ideas, and get ready for a successful year ahead! 📚🍎

Our President, Velma Sanchez, came up with a great icebreaker that gave us the opportunity to connect with an educator from another district. We shared our greatest strength, a fun hobby, and our best classroom rule. It was such a fun and meaningful way to get to know our fellow educators, build connections, and share ideas across our districts. 💙

We’re excited for all that this new school year has in store! Wishing all of our educators a wonderful, successful, and exciting start to the new school year! 🎉📖

PSJA ISD has earned an A rating in the 2026 Texas Accountability Ratings, with all 44 schools earning an A or B and 27 schools, more than 61% of our campuses, earning an A.

Our Expo is a one-stop shop where families can complete registration, meet campus leaders, get immunizations, and purchase uniforms all in one convenient location!

TCTA hosted a wonderful Summer Workshop at Arturo’s in Weslaco, filled with valuable information, delicious food, and fun door prizes!

We are especially excited because TCTA is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, with the official celebration taking place at the TCTA Convention in Austin on February 5–6.

During the workshop, we heard from Ann Fickel, who shared membership updates, including the new digital membership cards that will be emailed to members beginning August 1. We also heard from our very own PSJA CTA President and District 1 President, Velma Sanchez, who spoke about the importance of leadership and reflected on her years of involvement with TCTA. Finally, Pamela McPeters, Director of Governmental Relations, provided important legislative updates on education laws, the enhanced TIA, retirement, and other key policies affecting educators.
