Press conference with Congressman Vicente Gonzalez was held at Weslaco City Hall. Mayor Adrian Gonzalez , Tim Lee, TRTA Director with TRTA members were present at the press conference for the recently passed Social Security Fairness Act (SSFA).
This was signed into law on January 6, 2025, and eliminates the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO) which reduces the amount of benefits received by retired public servants such as educators, firefighters, police officers, and many more. Texans will receive their full benefits thanks to the Social Security Fairness Act. Weslaco City Hall was filled with excitement.
