Light of Hope - The James R.Closner Cancer Foundation

Light of Hope - The James R.Closner Cancer Foundation The Light of Hope is a community based non-profit organization that helps indigent cancer patients. Television interviews for example, “Con Mi Gente” with Mr.

The foundation focuses on three components.

1) Raising the level of hope to our recipients by providing monetary assistance for emergency travel and lodging.

2) The availability to seek a second opinion from a cancer physician.

3) Assistance for the patient’s families to provide needed resources and seek support groups for mentoring them through their difficult times. To develop the foundations

distinctive infrastructure, it has created an organization in which people from all walks of life can share their experiences. Inside the Light of Hope gift shop is a friendly face to greet customers and it’s a place where one can make new friends as well as contribute to and benefit from sharing stories with others. A website has also been created for people to learn what the foundation is about and submit an application for anyone needing help. Rick Diaz has been a wonderful resource for anyone needing assistance. Radio remote donations from station KB104 have also contributed to educating listeners as to what the foundation is all about. Light of Hope is the only retail store in the Rio Grande Valley that share 100% of their net profits to a foundation. All this and more is consistent with the foundations philosophy of giving hope to those patients who think there is no where to turn. Involving all the communities hand in hand to help someone in need is a wonderful way of expressing that they care because cancer is a dreaded disease that can happen to anyone.

We will be having a Snack Drive for the Vannie Cook Children's Cancer & Hematology Clinic.

The children have to be at the clinic for 2 or more hours and may have been required to go fasting for procedures. The on-site snacks are a source of great comfort and enjoyment to the children. Below is a list of ideas, there are many other snack items you can donate. This is only a guide.

They are also running low on gift cards for the teens. Once they are done with their treatments they reward them with a gift card ($5-$10).

All donations will be delivered to the clinic March 13th.
