We love all this glorious rain! We know our plants, trees, and wildlife are soaking it up and are so happy for the much needed water.

Unfortunately, all this rain also means our trails are especially slippery and not safe for visitors. Out of an abundance of caution, the Valley Nature Center will be closed today.

Please stay safe, enjoy the rain, and take a moment to appreciate all the good it’s doing for nature. We hope to see you soon!

Are you interested in becoming a naturalist? The next class is open for registration. Here are the details:

Registration for the South Texas Border Chapter Texas Master Naturalist Training Class of 2027 is officially open!

Classes meet in person on Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, January 7 through March 25, 2027, at the Edinburg Scenic Wetlands & World Birding Center, along with field trip opportunities across the Rio Grande Valley.

Class size is limited and our classes have been filling up quickly in recent years. Registration closes November 30, 2026, or as soon as capacity is reached. Please note that your spot is only secured once both the registration form and the $150 course fee are submitted.

We are so grateful for the rain!!!

Our park, all the plants and trees have been soaking up all this much needed rain, and these beautiful creatures are enjoying it too.

Unfortunately, all the rain has left our trails muddy and unsafe to walk. The safety of our visitors and staff is always our top priority, so our trails will be closed to the public until conditions improve. We know everyone is eager to explore, we will let you know as soon as the trails are safe and can reopen.

Thank you for your understanding, and thank you God for the rain!!!!!

Weslaco’s National Night Out: Weslaco City Hall. Come enjoy a fun evening of community and fun!!!

We love getting out in the community and connecting with YOU!!! Who knows, you might even meet one of our ambassador animals!

We will be back to our regular hours on Sunday. Come visit us, explore the trails, see what’s happening in the park, and discover what surprise are waiting for you!

You never know what you’re going to find at the Valley Nature Center!!!

We were lucky enough to spot this beautiful hawk enjoying a visit to the Valley Nature Center! What a gorgeous reminder that there is always something new to discover when you take time to explore nature.

Whether you are strolling through the trails, enjoying the gardens, or simply taking a quiet moment outside, keep an eye out, you never know who might be waiting to say hello!

You never know what you’re going to see at the Valley Nature Center!

One of the best things about coming to the Valley Nature Center is that every trip can bring a new surprise! From birds and butterflies to turtles, tortoises, rabbits and other wildlife, you never know who might make an appearance!

So stop by, take a walk on the trails, explore the park, and keep your eyes open, you never know what you’ll discover!
