The Weslaco Elks Lodge #2057, with the help of Elsa VFW Post 7473 and Weslaco Boy Scout Troop #100, held a Flag Day celebration on 14 June at the Weslaco Elks Lodge on Border Ave. The Elsa VFW Color Guard paraded the colors and performed the 13-fold flag demonstration. The Boy Scouts paraded the eight sequential flags of the nation. Following the ceremony, the VFW and Scouts held a flag retirement of all the old and torn US flags collected throughout the year. The ceremony was attended by many members of the local Weslaco government, including Mayor Adrian Gonzalez.
