Nani B's Place exists to be a safe house for people to come breathe, release the issues and pressures of life, gain insight and wisdom, and experience the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. Nani B's Place is a full-service transitional program that serves women, particularly single parents, veterans, and those transitioning from incarceration. Nani is also the name of the organization'
s director, Elder Linda M. Brown, given by her oldest granddaughter. Nani B's Place came to fruition from Nani's love for children, youth, and young adults. Nani's home was always filled with young people. From that time on, young people knew that Nani would help them through almost any situation. Some came to live with her as they transitioned from one phase of life to another. Nani is a Desert Storm veteran who served her country in the Army and Army Reserve. Her civilian background includes her work in education as a teaching assistant, service-learning coordinator, and after-school program director. She also served as chaplain and correctional counselor for a women's community corrections facility. Nani also served as a domestic abuse advocate, mental health coach, and just a listening ear. The services at Nani B's transitioned as the needs changed. Today, Nani B's Place serves single mothers and women transitioning from prison. Recently added are services to female veterans and military wives. Servistance with budgeting, employment readiness, mentoring, coaching, and connecting participants to other resources. Nani B's Place helps transition women prepare for their next phase of life. Nani B's Place utilizes strategic biblical principles that develop the total being: mind, body, and spirit. "We strive to love and nurture women, helping them see the possibilities life has to offer." By teaching biblical life precepts, participants gain a new sense of self, are empowered to reach goals, and are equipped to be productive members of the community.
