Unfortunately, in Zambia, 61.4% of adults were not treated according to this entitlement as children. ( https://www.unicef.org/infobycountry/zambia_statistics.html). Illiteracy is Zambia's greatest obstacle, hindering the country's potential to develop and reform. To alleviate this challenge, our dear friend Samantha has established the private, non-profit Kwathu Free Haven Community School. It is
geared towards providing an education, spiritual foundation, nourishment, love, emotional support, and individualized attention free of charge for the vulnerable children, preschool through grade six, in Livingstone, Zambia. Knowing children learn best on full stomachs, Kwathu provides two meals a day to every student. Nourishing both their minds and bodies empowers these children to be successful, functional members of society who can give back to their communities. Unfortunately, Samantha spends more time fundraising for the institution than overseeing the faculty, kids, and nourishment process, physical and educational. Thus, the students’ ability to obtain knowledge, values, and skills needed to break free from the restraints of poverty and aspire to their successful future is interrupted.New Haven Kwathu Community School
To sufficiently nurture the pupils academically, we have designed a product of quality, style, and of greater meaning. The Kwathu is a backpack comprised of the Zambian wax fabric, chitenge. It is durable, a convenient size, and a percentage of the proceeds goes right to educating kids at the Kwathu Community School. Our only obstacle, our lack of financial resources. Please fund us so we can proficiently market our product with a greater purpose and help the kids. Help spread the word!
