Kids from 3 to 13 years old learn, play & connect here on over 20 acres of forest, stream and gardens! Deer Paths offers Nurturing Nature classes during the school year and summer. We offer full-day (5 hour) nature classes for ages 3 to 8 years old on 7 beautiful, rustic acres of land in Wendell, MA. Students can attend one or two times per week, depending on availability. Monthly classes are also

offered to older students 8 to 12 years old, which include continued and more indepth nature studies on our land as well as many fieldtrips. Weekly classes:
Our class is a small community-oriented group of up to six children. The program offers a homey and natural environment! Each class group is arranged with age ranges and skill levels in mind to create a good learning experience. We spend outdoor time everyday exploring the land and indoor time in a cozy cabin. We explore our stream and forest, make crafts, and sing nature and community building songs. In the spring, we often study the birds, plants and vernal pools, and sometimes we make maple syrup from our own trees. Summer weather allows us to be outdoors all day typically and to cool down at the stream or pond. In the fall, we study plants, explore the colorful changes, and often get to go to the beautiful New Salem Preserves Orchard. In the wintertime, we study the snow and animal tracks, and go sledding on our small hills every chance we get! It’s homey, hands-on, and fun!

What we do at Deer Paths...
We spend happy, engaging days outside, nurturing our relationships to each other and nature.
We spend the whole day outdoors most days: gardening, cooking, playing forest games, exploring the stream, and honoring & studying habitats of wetlands and forest on 20 acres of beautiful land!
We have daily sharing circles for community building and nature songs, dancing, yoga, stories, and games.
We learn also through observations, discussions, drawing, writing and crafts!
Our studies follow the seasons from collecting Maple sap, planting seeds, and studying birds to building snow forts, sledding, wild foraging, and tracking.
On cold winter days, we spend some cozy time in my beautiful bright home for lunch and crafts.
Our emphasis is on building community, appreciating each other and all of nature, learning, growing and having fun!

Deer Paths Nature Programs, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is licensed by the state Board of Education. We have offered nature programs to young people for over 18 years.

Hooray for spring!! I haven't posted for Deer Paths in a while, but we are going strong, and it felt like a good time to share some pictures of enjoying spring with kids who are so present, curious and caring for nature.
We've had amazing maple sap and give huge thanks to our Mama Maple, we're uncovering the daffodils, starting seeds, and making wild teas in our burgeoning tea pot!
One of our calming activities is to sit outside, breathe in and out three times, and notice three beautiful things around us.
Leave a note here of three beautiful things you notice. I'll share it with the kids so they know we're all practicing too. ❤️
