Today is a BIG day for Macon'Smiles! We are packed up, loaded down and headed to Duke in this beautiful 🙄 weather ⛈️🌧️☔

Because of our super generous donors, Macon'Smiles is able to deliver over 10,000 toys to Duke Children's Child Life department to be given out to the patients of the outpatient clinics, many of which Macon has to visit!

TEN THOUSAND toys to help bring a sense of calm to children visiting Duke clinics and sitting through very scary appointments.

None of this could be done without you, yeah you! Everyone that visited Macon's lemonade stand, the businesses that gave selflessly, the groups that covered the overhead and ones that simply shared his mission ❤️

🌧️ or ☀️ the kids at Duke Children's Hospital deserve to know they are loved and thought about. Thank y'all so much for everything!!

Macon is a proud Duke Children's Champion Ambassador for the 2024-2025 year! His job is to bring awareness and support to all the kids at Duke! Macon'Smiles is one part of that.

For 30 years, MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM has supported Duke Children's with their annual Radiothon with MIX Mornings Kyle, Bryan and Sarah. Duke's Season of Hope fundraiser includes the Radiothon and Macon's annual donation to Duke through your donations!!

Join us in listening to Mix101.5FM December 10th and 11th as they showcase many past and present Duke patients and hear how your donations have helped so many over the past 30 years!

HUGE shoutout to Macon's genetic counselor, Erica Nading! Erica and Dr Rachel Torok from Duke Children's diagnosed Tobie and Macon with Loeys Dietz in 2018. They will forever and always stay in this momma's heart

Duke Children’s is proud to celebrate our Genetic Counselors today on World Genetic Counselor Day! 🎉 We have 8 GC’s who serve patients and their families at the Children’s Health Center, Lenox Baker, Creekstone and even inpatient units.

GC’s have advanced training in genetics and counseling to guide and support patients seeking more information about how inherited diseases and conditions might affect them or their families. They do a LOT of talking and spend significant time interpreting and explaining test results.

Terralyn Schmidt is one of our Children’s GC’s and she supports our Cardiology, Nephrology and Neurology teams. As many of them do, Terralyn uses pictures like this one to explain genetics to patients and families. Terralyn joined the Duke Children’s team 1 year ago and works hard to provide the best care to her patients.

Thank you Terralyn (and Alesky, Bailey, Erica, Kacie, Mariele, Megan, and Sarah) for all you do and the way you represent the best and brightest of Duke Children’s! 💙 🌟
