Sustainability in Washington agriculture is built in the field.

Recently, Sustainable WA Manager, Nathanial Helligso, visited four Washington vineyards during harvest and saw firsthand how much these operations depend on practical problem-solving, collaboration, and strong relationships.

Growers were working alongside their crews, neighbors were sharing equipment, and experienced field workers were passing knowledge to the next generation. That combination of people, land, and practical know-how is a big part of what makes Washington agriculture resilient.

It’s also at the heart of Sustainable WA. Our goal is to build a program that works for growers by understanding your operations, listening to what you need, and providing support that is useful in the field.

Thanks to everyone who welcomed Nathanial during harvest. He looks forward to getting back out there and continuing to build Sustainable WA with you.

Last week, Executive Director Sara Higgins, spent a meaningful day in Manson visiting growers and w**eries including Lagriōth W**ery , **ery, Saoirse W**e & Cherries, and **ery, before wrapping up with a social at **es.

The conversations centered on the unique operations of the valley’s growers and challenges such as smoke impact and misinformation about smoke. We were reminded of the grit, commitment, and resilience of the people who continue to advance the industry, not to mention the outstanding quality of the w**e they produce!

Here’s to those who keep showing up, adapting, and believing in the future of the Washington w**es.
