MISSION STATEMENT & PURPOSE
(Our various selling items can be also viewed or purchased at http://stores.ebay.com/veteranswearhouse410.) The mission of Operation Veterans Assistance & Humanitarian Aid (OVAHA) is to end and assist homelessness in the Veteran Community. This mission is accomplished through our three core objectives: (1) Assistance veterans of all eras; (2) Provide assistance to vete
ran’s family members; and (3) Community and Humanitarian support. These objectives will be accomplished through establishing a continuing and permanent outlet for the following programs:
HUMANITARIAN AID PROGRAM:
Our goal is to prevent, as best as we can, the death of our fellow Americans, through issuing them cold weather items to survive the extreme cold climate of the outdoors in the North Central Washington Area. This aid program will be accomplished by (1) Identifying the homeless in our area, (2) getting the word out to them of our plans, (3) setting up hand-out points, (4) establish a working delivery system, and (5) establishing a care closet at the Veterans Warehouse 410. The major distributions location of this program will be: (1) The Veterans Warehouse 410, (2) the Point-in-Time Count location for the North Central Washington area, and (3) when the weather in the central Washington area begins its winter cycle (below freezing temperatures and several feet of snow cover the ground). Other dates, times, locations and means will be used to help ensure the safety and welfare of the homeless in the central Washington area. This program will be accomplished using: Excess item from the WVSD event, Donation of items from the Veterans Warehouse 410, and Donations of items from the community. FURNITURE STANDDOWN PROGRAM:
The project is defined and described as an event that would provide an avenue for veterans in need, and their dependents (if the veteran was deployed or serving out of state/country), of any era, with access to free household furniture and basic household needs. Items such as TV’s, beds, dressers, nigh stands, coffee tables, end tables, bedding, curtains, mirrors, hutches, pictures, pillows, curtains, lamps, couches, chairs, easy chairs, dining and outdoor chairs, dining tables, kitchen ware, and other essential household items. The program is bi-yearly, held as close as possible to Mid-November. Other than the Veterans Warehouse 410, the primary source of the house-hold goods will be gained by coordinating with Las Vegas, NV Hotels and Casinos which we have a 3rd party standing contracts with. Items remaining after the event will be housed and made available at the Veterans Warehouse 410. (www.wenatcheeworld.com/news/2010/nov/23/veterans-snatch-up-free-furniture/)

Our Retail Sales training program is for men and women veterans in the community to learn the skills needed to obtain a living wage job in a retail sales environment. When you come in to shop in our thrift store you will often see new faces, as our trainees are sometimes only with us for a few months before being placed in a more permanent job and our mission accomplished. E. Courage & Honor Project: This program is a philanthropic partnership with local crafters and in-store consignment vendors; these individuals are working to make a difference in the lives of Veterans. These local crafters will donate $1 for each craft through our website and retail store, to OVAHA’s Veterans Support Fund. The fund is intended to assist veterans with meditate-needs: such as flat tire, baby food, & diapers. Overall it break the barriers and supports veterans in finding their own path out of poverty and getting back into the work force—and so much more. OVAHA and these local crafters believes in the Courage & Honor of our nations veterans—Inspired by their strength and fortitude. These crafts are not just simple nick-knacks; they represent the stories of heroic deeds—and how we’ve been changed by the Courage & Honor of veterans around us. Operation Patriot: The Veterans Warehouse 410 will work hand-hand with all local veterans’ organization and councils to ensure all programs and needs of our nation’s veterans are met.
