Your Wenatchee Valley firefighters had a busy weekend over this 4th of July. From multiple brush fires, mutual aid for neighboring districts, and a structure fire in East Wenatchee. It is with great sadness that we share the passing of retired Battalion Chief Ken Christensen, who dedicated more than 30 years of service to Wenatchee Fire & Rescue and continued serving our community as a Fire Commissioner for Douglas County Fire District 2.

Chief Christensen’s commitment to the fire service, his leadership, and his friendship left a lasting impact on generations of firefighters and the communities he served. Our thoughts are with his wife, Deeda, his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Family, friends, and members of the fire service are invited to celebrate Ken’s life on Saturday, June 27, at 2:30 p.m. at Jones & Jones – Betts Funeral Home, 302 9th Street, Wenatchee.

Please join us in honoring a lifetime of service and remembering Battalion Chief Ken Christensen.

Congratulations to Firefighters Gore, Shimek and Ivaldi!

The three newest members of the WVF Water Rescue Team have completed their initial training and are now part of the 22-person team that spans 3 shifts and responds to water emergencies in our area!

We are proud to have them on the team!

Wenatchee Valley firefighters responded to a structure fire at approximately 5:00 a.m. on Joe Miller Road following multiple 911 calls.

Crews arrived to find the home fully engulfed. Four occupants safely evacuated prior to arrival. Crews were unable to enter the structure due to compromised flooring and a roof collapse. Tragically, a family pet did not survive.
