For a Make a Difference Day project, Eastmont School District students and volunteers will be engaged in an effort to clean up graffiti in the East Wenatchee and Rock Island communities.

Organizers will meet volunteers in the Eastmont High School parking lot on October 22, 2022 at 9:00AM. All painting equipment, paint and locations of properties will be distributed at that time to volunteers, students and community members.

If you are the property owner of a location that has been vandalized with graffiti, you can call the Eastmont School District Administration Office at (509) 884-7169 to request your property be put on our list of project sites.

Property owners will need to provide their name, contact number, and indicate if they will provide paint that matches the vandalized fence or building or if permission is granted to use donated paints that may not match the original color, but will conceal graffiti.

We would like to thank our community partners: The Home Depot Foundation for donating the paint, equipment and supplies and to the East Wenatchee Police Department for helping provide locations and assistance on the day of the event.

Camp Zanika Lache's annual fall clean-up is a family-friendly service opportunity on beautiful Lake Wenatchee. You're invited to head up and spend the day, or stay the evening, as they open up the camp Oct. 22 and 23 for volunteers to stay! Lake Wenatchee is a yellow wonderland in the fall. Volunteers who are skilled in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical are also encouraged to join.

The story behind Wenatchee Valley Make A Difference Day

The Greater Wenatchee Area has been a national leader in Make a Difference Day, earning 9 national awards including top honors for the very first Make A Difference Day in 1992. Community organizations, schools, businesses, and neighbors have all pitched in to help one another.

In 2017, TEGNA and Arby’s Foundation honored us with $10,000 and as one of the top 10 communities in the nation when it comes to making a difference! The Wenatchee Valley received its 9th national award as we participated in our 27th Make A Difference Day. We are proud of every single person who personally took on our motto to “see a need, do a good deed.”

Total funds raised during the 2017 Make A Difference Day was $83,772.35! That came from 118 businesses and individual sponsors, and venues who were a part of Make A Difference Day. Thanks to the NCW Community Foundation, 13 grants of $200 each were awarded to 13 groups for 2017 projects. These grants came out of a fund at the North Central Washington Foundation established with prize monies from previous years’ Make A Difference Day entries.
