We offer therapeutic riding, veteran support, and life/work skills for adults with disabilities. Alatheia Riding Center changes lives with the healing power of horses. Since 2011 we have served children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities and veterans from four North Central Washington Counties. Alatheia exclusively uses beautiful and gentle Norwegian Fjord horses, trained inst

ructors and a dedicated team of volunteers to provide services. We are a member center of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International.

Emma has been part of Alatheia since she was a little girl, and now at 21, it’s been incredible to watch her confidence grow.

Riding gives her the sensory input her body needs, helping her feel calm and regulated by the end of each lesson. She’s learning she can do hard things, and it shows.

Her newer partnership with Bjorn has been a special part of that journey. As he’s learning and integrated into the program, Emma feels like she is giving back as she helps be a part of his team as he learns.

Emma’s mom shared, “Alatheia is such a huge part of our family, not just for Emma. We can’t imagine life without Alatheia.”

Sometimes the most meaningful moments happen in complete silence.

In Alatheia’s Warriors & Horses program, horses become partners in an experiential process that helps individuals reconnect, and discover answers that already exist within themselves. Horses are highly attuned to human emotion and energy, responding honestly and without judgment in ways that often create powerful moments of awareness, reflection, and personal insight.

Through the EAGALA model, our licensed Mental Health Professional and our EAGALA trained Equine Specialists work alongside the horses to create a safe and supportive environment for healing.

No riding. No pressure. Just the quiet presence of our therapy horses.

What a night!

We had an absolute blast hosting our first-ever Alatheia Poker Classic inside our new arena. The energy, laughter, competition, and community made for such an incredible evening.

A huge thank you to the greater poker community, women’s poker league, our skilled dealers and pit boss, incredible volunteers, staff, and everyone who came out to support Alatheia. Because of you, we welcomed an entirely new community into our arena and introduced more people to the mission and heart behind Alatheia. We are so grateful.

This may just be the beginning!

Lupita has really been thriving with a combination of riding and groundwork during her lessons. While she is a capable rider and able to ride unclipped, adding in hands-on tasks has helped her feel more engaged and happy during her time at Alatheia.

She especially enjoys walking Marta for warm-ups, helping untack after lessons, and taking her back out to pasture. She also loves giving Marta “haircuts,” so now we make Marta’s mane part of their routine together.

Since making this shift, we have seen Lupita become much more content and connected in the arena, and it has been wonderful to watch.
