Another Wenatchee Youth Basketball season is in the books. From the first practice to the final game, these teams showed up and put in the work. A lot of growth happened in gyms all over this season, not just in wins and losses, but in effort, teamwork, and accountability. Proud of every group of athletes that represented WYB.

As some of you know.. Paityn Decker was a part of our basketball family. We wanted to honor her life and her love of the game. Paityn was a remarkable teammate, competitor and person. She embodied everything that youth sports should represent, kindness, respect, inclusiveness and an unwavering love for her teammates. Paityn was just glad to be there, to wear her jersey alongside her friends, to walk on the court and be a part of it all. She was a quiet presence, who made her biggest mark with a smile. She had a tender heart and she LOVED basketball.

In her honor, one β€œPaityn Decker Sportsmanship Award” was presented to a player from each
team in every championship game this past weekend.

Here are the athletes who received that honor in memory of #16 Paityn Decker. πŸ’œ

Congratulations to all 22 recipients and a huge THANK YOU to Haglunds Trophies for donating those beautiful purple medals!
