Wellsville Area Historical Society began as an entity to restore Wellsville's Little Red Schoolhouse and remains that today with the added mission of educating and informing the public of Wellsville's rich and unique history.

The time has come to say Goodbye to our piano.
While we absolutely love her, she is holding us back from using our limited space efficiently. We know it might be a long shot but we wanted to offer her up to our followers for FREE. You must haul. Note she is very heavy and we will do our best to make the moving process easy but you will need to bring help!

A small group of people met for several years at the home of Mary Ellen and Jim Slothower discussing how we could SAVE the "Little Red Schoolhouse" , the principal of the Wellsville Elemtntary School, 2 members of the School Board, and concerned citizens attended those meetings. After much discussion with the board, they ended up giving it to us for $1 one night at a School Board Meeting. Mike Barndt reached into his pocket and brought out a dollar and handed it to the President of the Board. Thus the Wellsville Area Historical Society was officially begun and we had our work cut out for us.

Thanks to your generous donations the roofers were hard at work on Little Red!!! We cannot Thank you enough for the kind and thoughtful donations! Thank you for sharing our posts and reaching out to us via messenger! The way you all have rallied around the school house is truly wonderful and greatly appreciated! We still have more repairs to do, specifically inside the building. Donations are still appreciated and can be sent to WAHS Treasurer, 1149 Ridge Road, Dillsburg PA 17019. THANK YOU again to our wonderful friends and community!

HELP! The beautifully restored Little Red School House in Wellsville, PA, is in dire need of a significant roof repair. The estimate came in at just under $4,000. We've had an anonymous donor promise $1,000 of that, but could YOU help with the other $3,000??? If so, please make your check payable to the Wellsville Area Historical Society and write "Roof Repair" on the memo line. Send your check to WAHS Treasurer, 1149 Ridge Road, Dillsburg, PA 17019. THANK YOU, in advance, for your generous donation! We would like to get this project finished before bad weather sets in for the winter. If your generosity provides funds in excess of the needed amount, be assured that the excess will be used in the future for other needed repairs and/or insurance on the building.
