Our Johnny Appleseed Nutcracker will return to the Brooke County Historical Museum & Culture Center during the Wellsburg Applefest🍎
We are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 pm. Stop by and snap a photo with Johnny and check out some of our new items on display. We now have Bethany High School composite photos, Brooke High School’s first drivers education simulator and much more. Bring a friend and stroll down memory land.

The Brooke County Historical Museum and Culture Center has accumulated over 10,000 documented acquisitions. Recently they have received Bethany High School composite pictures of graduating classes for the years 1934, 48, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, and 69. They have been added to the education department in the museum.

Wellsburg High School composite pictures are also on display

The next acquisition is a driving simulator with answer board; one of the original installed at Brooke High’s inception.

The third acquisition was a donation from a local family consisting of books and memorabilia from WWII and some from the Vietnam Era. This is an extensive collection which will be added to the military room.

Museum hours are Thursday, Friday and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm (closed holidays). The museum closes for the winter on October 31 and reopens April 10, 2026. Programs or tours may be scheduled during the down time. Phone 304 737-4060

800 years of Music for Classical Guitar
Aaron Carey will perform works by Milan, Bach, Granados, and others from the 13 th Century to
modern times that have been arranged for the classical guitar of today. He will discuss key
stylistic differences in the eras of art music, from Medieval to Modern, and the instruments the
pieces were originally written for.
Light refreshments will be served after the program.

Stop by the Brooke County Historical Museum to see the Kiwanis Duck Derby coloring pages done by Brooke County Primary students. The second half of the pages will be posted on Tuesday or Wednesday next week. The students did a great job!

A Special thanks to the Pastor John and Youth Group of the Church of the Nazarene on Washington Pike for passing out free cleaning supplies (some of which came to the museum for cleaning the basement mess from the recent flooding)
