FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE!

Tioga County Planning Commission Announces Change to December Meeting Location

Tioga County, PA — The Tioga County Planning Commission has announced a change to the location of its December meeting to accommodate an anticipated increase in public attendance. The meeting will now be held on December 10, 2025, at 6:30PM at the Tioga County Courthouse, 118 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA 16901.

To begin the session, the Tioga County Planning Department will give a brief presentation on the newly developed Data Center Ordinance and the department’s role in planning for data centers within the county. This presentation will provide residents with an overview of current planning efforts and help them better understand the proposed regulatory framework, particularly since Tioga County’s Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO) does not address this type of development.

In August, the Planning Department was initially approached by a landman regarding potential data center development in Tioga County. Since then, the Planning Commission has worked diligently to draft a comprehensive Data Center Ordinance and has collaborated closely with the Tioga County Commissioners and other county departments. These efforts have included identifying suitable locations for potential facilities, analyzing potential impacts on the local tax base, and developing strategies to effectively address and mitigate challenges associated with the emerging data center industry. Key issues addressed in the ordinance include water and electric consumption, noise and vibration, setbacks, and decommissioning.

The Planning Commission encourages all interested residents, stakeholders, and community partners to attend the meeting and participate in this important discussion.
The complete draft Ordinance can be found online at http://www.tiogacountypa.us/departments/planning-commission, or in person at the Office of the Tioga County Commissioners, Tioga County Courthouse 118 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA. It is available for inspection by any interested party during normal office hours.

The Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code (MPC) and the ordinance that created the body define the role of a county planning commission.  Article II, Section 209.1 of the MPC sets forth the powers and duties of the planning commission.   A county planning commission serves as an official advis...

Well, that's a wrap! Another is in the books - and we are so grateful to everyone who played a part in helping us raise awareness all-October-long 💜

We kicked off the beginning of the with National Resource Center on Domestic Violence's National Call for Unity 🤝

The Tioga County PA Commissioners stood with survivors by issuing an official Domestic Violence Awareness Month Proclamation 📃

We participated in the alongside MU's CEA (formerly PCSW) to raise domestic violence awareness among college-age students.

Our Candlelight Vigil was a success, with special thanks to Brooke Krall, Delta Zeta Sorority at Mansfield University, MU's Women's Resource Center, and WENY's 🕯️

We traveled to SIX local libraries with HAVEN swag and informational materials, which allowed us to reach community members from all over the county in a safe, neutral environment. Elkland Area Community Library, Mansfield Free Public Library, North Hall Library, The Westfield Public Library, Blossburg Memorial Library, & Knoxville Public Library!

And last, but NEVER least - we painted Tioga County purple with not one, but TWO purple Thursdays!

It was a GREAT October, and fitting for November...we're SO thankful to everyone who helped us make this DVAM a great one 💜

The Wellsboro Gazette recently highlighted the important work of the Tioga County Conservation District. Their efforts to stabilize streambanks and continue flood recovery are vital to protecting our homes, businesses, and farmland.

We are grateful for their dedication to strengthening our communities and ensuring Tioga County is more resilient for the future.

Today we visited a completed Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) streambank restoration project in Knoxville. One of nine finished so far across Tioga County. These investments are strengthening our communities and helping us better withstand future flood events.

A huge thank-you to the Tioga County Conservation District for securing this funding and managing these projects.

🎡 Don’t Miss the 59th Annual Tioga County Fair!

While enjoying all of the fun activities at the fair, be sure to stop by Pappa’s Patties. Last year, when the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby sent devastating floods through northern Tioga County, Mitch left the fairgrounds and went to Westfield to cook free meals for flood victims and volunteers cleaning up.

Supporting his food truck this year isn’t just about a great meal—it’s a way to thank someone who went above and beyond in a time of crisis.

As Ward foundry transitions into new ownership we are excited to be good partners as we welcome the new owners/operators to our area.

Encouraging news today!

Rytoriacap Inc. (Rytoria), a company headquartered in Yoe, PA (York County), has acquired ASC Engineered Solutions’ foundry and facilities in Blossburg. The announcement comes about five months after ASC announced it would close the local facility.

I joined other area officials* in issuing the following statement in response:
