Beef Producer Discussion Group
Penn State Extension will be hosting a Beef Producer Discussion Group in Lycoming County on October 29th from 6:30PM – 8:00PM. It will be held at the Lysock View Complex (542 County Farm Road, Montoursville, PA 17754) in the 1st floor Chapel Conference Room.

Identify beef cattle production issues and trends throughout North Central Pennsylvania while helping shape future Penn State Extension programming in the region through valuable producer input. Connect with local beef producers and industry professionals during this informal, discussion-based meeting. The meeting will be moderated by Michael Sherman, Livestock Educator with Penn State Extension. Similar meetings will be established on a quarterly basis to provide opportunities to share experiences, discuss current issues affecting the beef cattle industry, explore relevant production topics, and build valuable connections in a relaxed setting. Cow-calf producers, cattle feeders, beginning farmers, and industry professionals are encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be provided, and the event is offered free of charge. Please follow recommended biosecurity practices and wear clean footwear. Preregistration is required, and space is limited.

• You do 𝗡𝗢𝗧 need to have any prior horticulture knowledge-just a passion to gain and spread research-based knowledge to others 🐝🍅🦋🌳🥦🌻
• Classes are conducted 𝒗𝒊𝒂 𝒁𝒐𝒐𝒎, once a week from October 2026-March 2027 *𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁 & 𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗥𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗗*
• Basic Training class topics include: botany, soil health, plant propagation, controlling pests, entomology, plant diseases, lawn care, pruning, native plants, invasive species, and much more!
• Required 50 hours of volunteer service by October 2027
• 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁: $275 which includes Training Manual and any class materials (financial aid is available)
