TIMQ: Veterans in the Wild

TIMQ: Veterans in the Wild Creating adventures for Veterans in the wild to spark a passion that will last a lifetime.

Our mission is to provide our American Veterans of all ages and branches with an alternative form of therapy by using outdoor experiences to help them find peace. Using adventures in the Pennsylvania wild such as hunting, fishing, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding and others to create a passion that will last a lifetime. Our slogan, You Are Never Alone, is what we want all Veterans to understand and pass along.

TEAMS NEEDED: Veterans in the Wild Rex Rathbun Memorial Golf Tournament

We still have room for a few more teams and would love to fill the course with people who want to show up for our local veterans.

This tournament is more than a day of golf. It helps support Veterans in the Wild, a program that gets veterans outdoors through fishing, camping, horseback riding, photography, hunting, golf, meals, transportation, and connection when they need it most.

We also still have room for hole sponsors. Hole sponsorships are a great way for local businesses, families, and community members to honor a veteran, remember someone they love, or simply stand behind the mission.

If you would like to register a team or sponsor a hole, please reach out to This Is My Quest, Inc.
or Register at: https://www.thisismyquest.org/vitw

Come golf with us. Come sponsor. Come help us remind our veterans they are never alone. 🇺🇸

**Did You Know?**

When people ask about Veterans In The Wild, they sometimes ask how many events we host or how many veterans we serve.

The truth is, we've never measured success by how flashy an event is or how many people show up for a single day.

We measure success one veteran at a time.

Sometimes success looks like a fishing trip.

Sometimes it's a cup of coffee and a conversation.

Sometimes it's helping someone get to a medical appointment, sharing a meal, or making sure they know they aren't facing life's challenges alone.

Last year we had the opportunity to provide outdoor excursions, community gatherings, transportation assistance, meals, lodging support, and conservation experiences for veterans throughout our region. But the numbers only tell part of the story.

What matters most are the relationships.

The veteran who started coming to events again.

The veteran who made a new friend.

The veteran who found a sense of purpose through service and stewardship.

The veteran who realized there were still people who cared.

Our goal has never been to create one-time exposure. Our goal is to create lasting connection.

Because healing, resilience, and belonging happen one relationship at a time.

Thank you to every veteran who has trusted us to walk alongside them.

**You are never alone.**

In Honor of Rex Rathbun

I can’t quite imagine the last twelve years of my life without the back-and-forth banter with Rex.

He was sassy. Honest. You always knew exactly what he thought. And he never missed a chance to give you a hard time.

Rex was a Vietnam veteran, an avid outdoorsman, a diver, and a jumper. He worked hard his entire life, driving tractor trailer for 35 years and most recently at Tyoga Container. Service ran deep in his family, and he carried that legacy with quiet pride.

Over the last few weeks, many of you showed up for him. You came to his benefit. You shook his hand. You hugged him. He was able to see and feel that love before he left us. That matters more than I can explain.

Veterans in the Wild was built on one simple promise, no veteran walks alone. Rex did not walk alone. Not in life, and not at the end.

The woods will feel a little different. The jokes will be quieter. But the stories..... we will keep telling those.

Rest easy, Rex.

For every mile you marched,
for every moment you stood watch
while the rest of the world slept
thank you.

For the courage it took to leave home,
for the strength it took to come back changed,
and for the grace it takes to keep moving forward
thank you.

You carried more than your pack and your duty;
you carried the hopes of a nation.
And even now, long after the echoes have faded,
your service continues to shape who we are.

The freedom we live beneath,
the peace we too often take for granted
both exist because of you.

You remind us what sacrifice truly means:
the kind that doesn’t ask for praise,
only understanding,
and remembrance.

Today, we stand in quiet gratitude.
For your service.
For your strength.
For the way you continue to lead with heart
long after the battles are done.

Happy Veterans Day
With deep respect and gratitude
from all of us who will never forget.
