Last week was a crazy busy week,

Tuesday we had AquaQuest with youth from the community. We partnered with Tackle Shack and spent time fishing, learning how to target different species, along with some paddleboarding and kayaking instruction. It’s always amazing to watch the kids settle in and really connect with the water and each other.

Wednesday was archery in Wellsboro, and we also had TIMQ-Recovery Quest New Adventures with an incredible group who continue to show up and try new things in the outdoors. They had a guest speaker join us, and even though it was a bit rainy and cold, the new picnic tables they built worked perfectly inside the pavilion, there’s something special about seeing that full circle.

Friday we wrapped the week by reintroducing our eel back into the Susquehanna River. Such an amazing experience to share with both kids and adults, and a reminder of how connected everything really is.

It might have been rainy and a little cold, but this group showed up anyway. And that’s where the best moments happen. They’re learning that some of the most fun, meaningful experiences don’t come from perfect weather… they come from just getting outside and being part of it.

I usually do our weekly wrap-up at the beginning of the following week, but this one couldn’t wait.

This week was AquaQuest, and getting these kids out on the water, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing, and just learning how to be outside together.

For a lot of them, it’s not just about the activity. It’s about finding something that feels good, something they can come back to. When kids are bored and feel like there’s nothing to do, that’s when they start heading down paths that don’t serve them. We’re trying to change that.

We’re showing them there is something to do. There’s a whole world out here.

And maybe more importantly, they’re finding common ground with each other out on the water. You can see it happening conversations, laughter, confidence starting to build. That matters.

We’re so grateful for the support that makes programs like this possible. It’s bigger than a day on the water… it’s giving these kids something steady to come back to.

Thank you Tackle Shack Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and EQT Corporation for helping us make these spaces for so many.

We set up at the Pennsylvania Welcome Center for National Travel and Tourism Week, just looking to connect with people and share what we’re doing through This Is My Quest.

And like it always does, it turned into something more.

The kids ended up spending time with Matt West talking about eagles, watching the live eagle cam, and just asking question after question. You could see their interest and from that second on he had full attention.

One of the boys asked about geology trails and Matt disappeared for a minute and came back with a whole box of brochures, sat down with them and started going through locations, history, places they could actually go. And they were all in.

It doesn't matter where we go there is always so much to learn, Thank you Matt for taking time with the kids

What a full week.

Tuesday was another great practice in Westfield with archery team, followed by Wellsboro on Wednesday. These nights are steady, consistent, and important. This is where confidence is built, one shot at a time.

Wednesday was another fun archery team gathering at the Wellsboro Range and we even had some new faces join us.
We also had the opportunity to start conversations concerning habitat management at Nessmuk Lake with the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

Thursday, we came together for our Nessmuk Lake community meeting, continuing the conversation around the future of the lake and what it can become for everyone, We had a wonderful opportunity to speak with the Tiadaghton Audubon Society about building partnerships at the lake and educational opportunities. From there, we headed straight into the Pine Creek Headwaters Protection Group meeting to stay connected with the larger conservation efforts happening across our region. It made for a long night, but these are the spaces where real progress starts.

Friday we had the opportunity to sit down with Senator Yaw and talk about the realities facing rural youth and the need for stronger support and opportunities in our communities. Next up was a visit to the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, these partnerships are so important to our upcoming projects at the lake.

Saturday, we hit the road. For many of our families, it was a three-hour drive to New Ringgold, but they showed up. These experiences matter. They challenge our kids, build resilience, and give them something to be proud of.

Sunday, we slowed things down just enough to connect with the community in a different way. We set up at the Welcome Center to share what we do and meet new people, while also welcoming something new into our own space.

We then picked up our bees and worked with Fogelsanger Farm and Flowers to help them begin their beekeeping journey. Back at This Is My Quest, we also spent time with our own students, introducing new bees to our hives after the loss we experienced from a bear earlier this season. It was a chance to learn, rebuild, and keep moving forward.

From archery ranges to meetings, road trips to bee yards, it was another productive week at TIMQ.

And again, we’re not slowing down.

Weekly Wrap-Up at This Is My Quest

Some weeks don’t feel big while you’re in them… but when you slow down and look back, you realize how much is actually taking shape.

We spent a lot of time at Nessmuk Lake continuing to mow and open up space. It’s starting to feel like something again, not just land, but a place people will return to.

Behind the scenes, we’ve spent more hours than we can count writing and refining programs that will live there. Every piece matters. This isn’t just activity-based programming, it’s built with intention. Each program is designed to lead somewhere… to build confidence, connection, and a deeper understanding of conservation and the outdoors.

Archery kept us moving all week:

Tuesday in Westfield
Wednesday in Wellsboro
Friday back in Wellsboro

Different groups, different kids, same goal… showing up, building skill, and creating consistency.

We also spent some time with Kayti, who is working to build a native pollinator farm. She picked up trees from the Tioga County Conservation District sale and is starting to shape something of her own. We took a little detour adventure to get her a new fishing reel so she could set up her own pole… one more step toward independence in the outdoors.

No big spotlight moments this week. Just steady work, quiet progress, and a lot of intention behind everything we’re building.

That’s where the real impact happens.

A huge thank you to Stone's Lawn Care & Stump Removal for stepping in and helping us begin the process of reclaiming Nessmuk Lake. Years of unmaintained landscape does not get turned around overnight, but this is how it starts with people who are willing to show up and put in the work.

We’re grateful for your time, your equipment, and your commitment to helping us bring this space back to life for the community.

This is just the beginning.
