Is your kid interested in archery, but you're not sure if they'll enjoy it. Or maybe you're new to the idea of archery as a sport. Come join us tomorrow, Saturday October 3, 2026 at Nessmuk Lake to learn a bit about archery and see how it can inspire confidence, discipline, and responsibility in young minds. Coaches and archers from our S3DA youth archery team will be present to offer basic instruction in archery and answer any questions you may have about our program.

Some of our kids recently got to learn about the history of postage stamps from our dear friend Cheryl Edgecomb at the beautiful Knoxville library. It might seem a little outside our usual programming, but I’ll take any opportunity to help kids discover something new and we can always tie in what we do to a new opportunity.

Cheryl is a treasure to our community. She took the time to share the stories behind stamps and helped each child find a topic they were excited about. Some chose wildlife conservation, some pollinators, some fish or even a world wat II collection, others chose sports. They left eager to start collections of their own. As they collect, they’ll learn more about those subjects and eventually have something beautiful to present in competition.

We are so lucky to have people like Cheryl right here in our community, willing to share what they love with the next generation. ❤️

Our hearts are full after this year’s Clays for Kids Tioga County event.

To every team, shooter, sponsor, volunteer, donor, family member, and friend who showed up, thank you. You helped make the day something truly special.

Clays for Kids has always been about more than a sporting clays event. It is about community. It is about people coming together to support youth, create opportunities, and show kids that they are surrounded by adults who believe in them.

This year was especially meaningful as This Is My Quest stepped into managing the event for the first time. We are grateful for the foundation that has been built over the years, and we are honored to help carry it forward through Precision Quest and our youth outdoor programming.

We want to take a moment to spotlight KC101 Hometown Country for the important role they have played in helping Clays for Kids Tioga County grow into what it is today.

Their support, promotion, and commitment to sharing this event and so many others in the community have been pivotal in helping reach more people, gain more support, and continue making a difference for local youth.

Events like this do not grow on their own. They grow because community partners believe in the mission, help tell the story, and show up year after year to support something bigger than a day on the course.

Last week, approximately ten fishing poles used during our New Adventures program were left inside the pavilion at Nessmuk Lake so I could pick them up for another youth fishing day. When I returned, every one of them was gone.

While I know that is something that could happen I truly believed it would not. All of our equipment is donated or purchased with donated funds so we can provide opportunities for youth, veterans, and people in recovery. I drive around with fishing poles in my truck and have given plenty away when I meet someone who doesn’t have one. If someone needed a pole, all they had to do was ask.

We hoped Nessmuk would be the kind of peaceful place where something accidentally left behind would still be there when you returned. I still want to believe it can be.

So if you took the poles, just please return them. No questions asked. They belong to the people we serve and if you need one go ahead and keep one that's what they were intended for but I am fairly certain you do not need them all.
