Last Friday, the 11th Grade Science class visited our Food Sovereignty site! 🧪🥤🌱

They explored smoothie science by predicting how our smoothies would taste, look, and feel based on the ingredients we used. We talked about color, texture, and flavor before giving them a try!

The students even helped us turn our compost pile, learning more about the important role compost plays in healthy soil. ♻️🌱

We also learned about the soil food web and wrapped up the day with an outdoor plant identification walk. 🌿 Along the trail, we learned the names of different plants, their purposes, and their benefits.

A fun day of hands-on learning, teamwork, and discovery! ☀️

Hi community! It is that time of year again. The Children of the Sun Community Coalition is required to collect 100 community surveys each year as part of our CPWI (Community Prevention & Wellness Initiative) Grant requirements.

Through this grant, we are able to provide many programs, services, and resources to the STOI community including:

• Strengthening Families Program
• SPORT Prevention Plus Wellness
• Gathering of Native Americans (GONA)
• Children of the Sun Mentoring Program
• Substance Education & Prevention
• Free medication lock boxes
• Medication Take Back Day events

If you live, work, or travel through the Spokane Reservation community, please help us by taking this brief survey. It only takes about 5–7 minutes and your feedback truly helps support these important programs and services in our community.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Kim Norman at [email protected].

Also, be sure to check out our page, Children of the Sun Community Coalition, to learn more about how you can get involved!

Yesterday was such a good day.🌱☀️
Spent the day with Spokane Schools Native Education learning about the importance of growing our own food, gardening, and plant identification. 🌿🌻🍅 There’s something powerful about reconnecting with the land, learning together, and building knowledge that can be passed down for generations.🌎✨

Feeling grateful for the opportunity, the conversations, and all the new things we learned together. 💚🪴
