Exciting Voting Rights News!

New Jersey has enacted the John R. Lewis Voter Empowerment Act, becoming the first state to pass comprehensive statewide voting rights protections following the Supreme Court’s Louisiana v. Callais decision.

The new law includes protections against voter intimidation and vote dilution, expands language assistance, and creates additional safeguards for voting access.

Named in honor of civil rights icon Congressman John Lewis, the legislation is a powerful reminder of his enduring legacy and the importance of protecting every eligible voter’s opportunity to make their voice heard.

Happy Fourth of July!

Today we celebrate the birth of our nation and the freedoms that unite us. As we gather with family and friends, let’s also remember that our democracy depends on informed and engaged citizens.

One of the most meaningful ways to honor the freedoms we enjoy is by participating in the democratic process. Register to vote, stay informed on the issues, and make your voice heard when it’s time to cast your ballot.

Wishing everyone a safe, joyful, and meaningful Independence Day!

On June 24, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a ruling that continues to shape conversations around healthcare, rights, and access across the country.

As communities continue to discuss and navigate the impact of this decision, it serves as a reminder of the importance of staying informed, engaged, and aware of how laws and court decisions can affect everyday lives.

Civic engagement matters. Understanding the issues, participating in conversations, and making your voice heard are all important parts of our democracy.
