It’s been a while since we’ve posted, but looking back here’s one of my favorite photos from 2025. It takes a whole lot of behind the scenes effort to make these sort of events possible. This work is accomplished by individuals who come together for the purpose of breathing new life into an “abandoned” railroad. It is a tremendous undertaking to try and acquire and rehabilitate an entire railroad. There is always more we’d like to accomplish. We always wish we had a little more money, a little more time, or a few more volunteers. We are grateful to all of you who support us; those who ride the trains, those who sacrifice weekends with their families, and those members who year after year send in their membership dues as a sign of support for this project. If you feel led, please consider joining our cause by becoming a member. This organization needs you to help us reach our full potential. What have our volunteers been up to this summer? Everything from tie replacement (thank you Timiny Rail Maintenance LLC for the donation of ties), whistle post pouring, to pothole filling. It’s through the efforts of these fine folks that we can offer trains rides behind historical equipment on our rail line. A line that reminds us of Lorain County’s proud industrial past. Interested in joining us? Information on how to become a member is at www.lwvry.org

This week we are doing are annual w**d spraying. Want to learn more about what it takes to run a railroad? Front page news yesterday! Thank you Morning Journal for sharing our story! If you’d like to keep this project moving forward, please consider becoming a member. Many hands make light work. The other way to support the cause is to ride the train. We have a full schedule lined up in October and after Thanksgiving. Visit www.lwvry.org to find out more.

Come join us for a train ride! As a non-profit, Volunteer operated railroad, all proceeds from our rides all go back into the railroad. What a fun way to preserve history!

Please give yourself ample time to arrive as the train leaves at the stated time.  We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before the train is scheduled to depart
