To REOPEN OUR Community Park on Southshore with better redevelopment of the facilities than it had when our village manager Jim Barnes and 3 existing council members decided to close it on June 20, 2023.

I'm speechless. Now they are calling it a private school. Please LIKE, COMMENT AND SHARE THE POST.

Our group is focused on reopening Wellington's Community Park but we want to share we have proposed naming the main stadium field at Greenbriar Park at Wellington High School after Denali Smith. Denali from a very young age through his high school graduation at Wellington High played both lacrosse and football for so many years. If you met Denali, you would understand how special this young man was. From around 4th grade or so I remember him as a tenacious lacrosse defender who had unique size, speed and strength but also his positivity and flair for life. He passed away at the stadium field on July 22, 2024 doing an individual workout to continue to improve his athleticism. We propose the Village of Wellington name the main stadium field behind Wellington high school at Greenbriar Park n his memory "Denali Smith Stadium". See email and a wonderful photo of Denali from his IG Page. A soul lost too early that forever impacted anyone who knew him. ***PLEASE like and share this post*****

Our once vibrant park now sits like this for 14 months after being closed by 3 current elected council members and Village manager Jim Barnes. Looks like it's been 10 years. So sad. Families walking and playing in our neighborhood tonight all talking about how they loved walking to this once great park. It kills me to see our taxes spent on so many wasted things and this beautiful 15 acres in the greatest equestrian community in the world look like this in 2024. Have we learned nothing?

Please like and share. Our beautiful free play park has been wrongfully closed for 14 months. Community Park should never been closed in the first place. Our children are only young for so long. Closing this park and keeping it an eye sore with ripped blue tarp stands to diminish property values and has lowered the quality of life for surrounding residents. It's time for our Village to invest in this park with a new playground, covered and lighted basketball courts, a baseball field and a rebound wall for soccer and lacrosse and a large open play field for all sports. Many of our taxpayer funded fields don't allow open free play access to Wellington residents due to agreements with sports organizations. Our families need this space back as a multifunctional open play park.

Community Park will never be an accessible park in Wellington like it has been ever again. One of the sites we recommended will be turned into a privately run sports performance and training center. I'm sure it will be amazing but losing a park is never ideal in my opinion. I believe it's a $38 million investment (initial bond) but I've heard it could even be more possibly.

Remember when some of us proposed 7 sites for OUR turf project one which was the Old Boys And Girls Club? Please stay very informed on this NEWLY PROPOSED project! The Old Boys and Girls Club that is a wonderful space donated to OUR VILLAGE for "recreational use" is now the subject of a massive sports training facility and appears funded initially on a Tax Payer Bond. I don't have all the details. This site has great potential and Village residents should have a voice(s).

Community park. One of the sites we recommended for a lacrosse complex (which is now a new park called Greenview Park with 5 turf fields at Wellington High School) is being discussed for use as co-venture with a private, newly formed athletic performance company. It will be a pay to train type facility on a Wellington tax payer owned property. Interesting.

The village will cover $33 million of the project led by NFL's Jon Bostic and Patrick O'Donnell and Major League Baseball's Devon Travis.

For those who support lacrosse in Wellington but perhaps aren't as entrenched as many of us. Look carefully at this photo and decipher all the lacrosse groups, lacrosse people and media outlets giving WELLINGTON A HUGE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT ON SUCH A SUCCESSFUL TOURNAMENT THIS PAST WEEKEND. Thank everyone and ask for many more!! Put in the comments some of outlets names you see.
