Cavies and Canines Animal Rescue We are a 501c3 nonprofit and PACFA-licensed guinea pig rescue and sanctuary in Colorado. We take back our guinea pigs at any time, no questions asked.

We are based out of Northern Colorado and have fosters and adoptable guinea pigs throughout the Front Range. Our goal is twofold – to provide homeless pets with loving homes and provide judgement-free advice to well-intentioned human family members to facilitate a happily ever after. We find that guinea pigs are commonly incorrectly perceived as “starter pets” for kiddos, and given up or abandoned

when it becomes clear that they can be higher maintenance, more expensive, or more fragile than expected. It’s also why one of our main goals at Cavies and Canines Animal Rescue is to educate – we want your family to find a pet that is the perfect fit … a win-win for everyone! Oatmilk progress report:

Oatmilk’s bloodwork looks good and he is up to 850 grams. He still isn’t gaining as fast as I’d like, but progress is progress. I’m only worried about the bumblefoot in his front left paw at this point. Now that he’s mite-free and not in pain, he’s a super friendly and social guy. He loves everyone he meets.

Good - and bad - news on the home front.

Dobs is pneumonia (and cancer) free! That was scary, but he’s back to his normal self and his lungs look excellent.

But, here’s the bad news. He gave it to Rusty, and now Rusty’s lungs are problematic. If we’re being technical, I think Rusty started it. Regardless, might as well treat Pierre too at this point and be done with it.
