Cavies and Canines Animal Rescue We are a 501c3 nonprofit and PACFA-licensed guinea pig rescue and sanctuary in Colorado. We take back our guinea pigs at any time, no questions asked.

We are based out of Northern Colorado and have fosters and adoptable guinea pigs throughout the Front Range. Our goal is twofold – to provide homeless pets with loving homes and provide judgement-free advice to well-intentioned human family members to facilitate a happily ever after. We find that guinea pigs are commonly incorrectly perceived as “starter pets” for kiddos, and given up or abandoned

when it becomes clear that they can be higher maintenance, more expensive, or more fragile than expected. It’s also why one of our main goals at Cavies and Canines Animal Rescue is to educate – we want your family to find a pet that is the perfect fit … a win-win for everyone! Meet Kane!

First of all, big props to the shelter for reaching out to us and not euthanizing him. This shelter has one of, if not THE highest live release rates in the state.

Kane is coming to us because he woke up one day and chose violence. He did murder on his brother (VERY rare) and then attacked his owner. Oops.

Here’s the thing … the number of explanations for this behavior that I can remedy vs the off chance he’s just a demon pig are plentiful. And I love a good behavioral rehab case and spicy pigs.

He will be my personal foster, obviously, for liability reasons, but I’m confident I can get through to him and figure out what’s going on here. I’ll even put money on him one day having a pal (even if that means he’s neutered and it’s a lady) and going up for adoption.
