Wellesley Repertory Theatre - WRT "There is a hunger to see the human presence acted out. As long as that need remains people will find a way to do theatre." - Zelda Fichandler

Wellesley Repertory Theatre was founded by Artistic Director Nora Hussey in June of 1998. The mission at the time was to provide an artistic home for Wellesley College alums as well as integrating Wellesley College graduates into the Boston theatre scene. It has since expanded its timeline and company to become Wellesley Repertory Theatre! The company has been awarded the Moss Hart Award for theat

rical excellence multiple times. What began with a core company of three, and one production of "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" has grown in the intervening years to a core company of 21, with an age range of 13 to mid 70’s and an average of 3 Main Stage productions and occasionally a children’s theatre production. The productions over the years have been lauded by critics and audiences alike. Recent productions include The Clearing, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, Dancing at Lughnasa, Holiday, Our Town, and Season’s Greetings, Hay Fever, and Orlando. The idea of a “company’ has long been a dream held by the director. The mission statement puts forth this concept: ‘Putting together a diverse group of people that interacts, moves in sync, sometimes in competition, but always working toward a common goal is essentially organic. It is as complex or as simple as our own families. The success of families, or theatre companies, is in how well each member’s personal strengths and weaknesses are utilized or overcome. In this spirit the emotional power of a dramatic endeavor comes together – knowing each other so well over the years that the individuals form a highly efficient artistic entity. Maturity and growth happens as you work day in and day out with the same people toiling toward a common goal.”Wellesley Repertory Theatre runs winter and summer and is a fixture in the theatre scene in the Boston area.
